SBI CRPD Recruitment For Specialist Cadre Officers In The State Bank Group of Banks – 2012-2013

As the behemoth of banking sector in India, State Bank of India (SBI) retains the glory of being the single largest bank of India since its inception. With its growth over post-independence era, it has merged many associate banks to its mainstream of operation and presently SBI with all its associate banks forms a mammoth size organization in banking and finance in India.

With a view to compete with the expansion and the reverberating trends of economical progress, SBI has announced to recruit almost 20000 posts in 2013. In line with the announcements, presently SBI invites competent individuals to join in Specialist Cadre Officers through its five associate banks for 514 posts (Sc-68, ST-39, OBC-129) for the year 2012-13. The details of the vacancies are described as under:


  • On-line registration of Application From: 8th October 2012
  • Payment of fee – Online mode: From 8th October 2012 to 28th October 2012
  • Payment of fee – Offline mode: From 10th October 2012 to 31st October 2012
  • Last date for Online Registration of Application: 28th October 2012
  • Downloading of Call Letter for Written Test: from 19th November 2012
  • Date of Written Test: 2nd December 2012

CADRE OF RECRUITMENT: Specialist Cadre Officer

SBI (State Bank of India) – 128 [GEN- 70, SC- 17, ST- 10, OBC- 31 ]

SBBJ (State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur) – 114 [GEN- 59, SC- 17, ST- 07, OBC- 31 ]

SBH (State Bank of Hyderabad) – 129 [GEN- 69, SC- 18, ST- 09, OBC- 33 ]

SBM (State Bank of Mysore) – 23 [GEN- 13, SC- 03, ST- 03, OBC- 04 ]

SBP (State Bank of Patiala) – 83 [GEN- 45, SC- 09, ST- 07, OBC- 22 ]

SBT (State Bank of Travancore) – 37 [GEN- 22, SC- 04, ST- 03, OBC- 08 ]


  • Economist:

AGM (Chief Economist) – 1 post – Age – Max.40 years – Academics – Post Graduation in Economics with specialization in Monetary/ Financial Economics/ Econometrics – Experience – Min 5 years in Applied Economic Research – Pay Scale – Rs.61600 (Approx.)

Manager (Economist) – 2 posts – Age – Max.35 years – Academics – Post Graduation in Economics (min 55% marks) with Business Economics/ Econometrics as a subject OR, MPhil in Economics OR, PG in Journalism and Mass Communication AND, Candidates should have relevant published work/ research paper in the area of Economics/ Finance/ Banking – Experience – Min 5 years as an Economist/ Analyst/ Financial Journalist – Pay Scale – Rs.43900 (Approx.)

  • Chartered Accountant:

Chief Manager (Chartered Accountant) – 1 post – Age – Max.35 years – Academics – Qualified Chartered Accountant – Experience – Min 5 years in Accountancy, Taxation, US GAAP, Statutory Audit and preferably with MBA (Finance)/ ICWA qualification – Pay Scale – Rs.52100 (Approx.)

Manager (Chartered Accountant) – 2 posts – Age – Max.30 years – Academics – Qualified Chartered Accountant – Experience – Min 5 years in Accountancy, Taxation, US GAAP, Statutory Audit or Candidates having own practice – Pay Scale – Rs.43900 (Approx.)

  • Computer/ System:

Manager (Hardware) – 2 posts – Age – Max.40 years – Academics – First Class MTech / BTech / BE (in Computer Science/ Electronics). Knowledge of UNIX, LINUX and Windows Administration is essential – Experience – Min 5 years in Minimum 5 years in Computer Hardware/ Hardware Management/ Maintenance/ System Administration – Pay Scale – Rs.43900 (Approx.)

Dy. Manager (Hardware) – 16 posts – Age – Max.35 years – Academics – First Class Graduate in Computer Science/ Electronics/ Communication. CCNA certification or Certified Hardware professional qualification is desirable – Experience – Min 5 years in banking/ reputed organization in areas of IT system procurement and implementation/ Data Centre Management/ Maintenance/ proficiency in Windows/ Unix/ Linux systems – Pay Scale – Rs.33250 (Approx.)

Apart from these, there are multiple vacancies for the Posts of Assistant Manager-Hardware (9 posts), Manager-Networking (1 post), Dy Manager- Networking (3 posts), Dy. Manager- Systems (25 posts), Assistant Manager-Systems (231 posts) and Assistant Manager- Computer Communications (5 posts)

  • In addition, there are several vacancies for engineering cadre in the scale of Dy. Manager (Civil-13 and Electrical-4 posts) and Assistant Manager (Civil-32 and Electrical-21 posts) from core field of Engineering like Civil and Electrical Engineering.
  • There are multiple vacancies for Dy. Manager (8 posts), Manager (2 posts) and Assistant Manager (1 post) in Official Language.
  • There are several vacancies in Law like Manager (42 posts), Dy. Manager (4 posts) and Assistant Manager (78 posts)
  • There are 10 vacancies for Dy. Manager-Security
  • There is 1 post for Dy. Manager- Fire & Safety

  • The minimum age requirement for all the posts is fixed at 21 years.
  • Relaxation in upper age limit will be applicable as per norms


The candidates who are finally selected for appointment will have to serve concerned bank for a probation period as under: (for scale of posts you can refer to the complete advertisement at the website address as mentioned above)

  • For JMGS-I and MMGS-II positions: 2 years from the date of joining
  • For all other posts: 1 year from the date of joining


  • For General and OBC: Rs.500
  • For SC/ST/ PWD/ Ex-servicemen: Rs.50


a)    The fees can be paid through Master/ Visa Debit/ Credit Cards online

b)    The fees can also be paid through the system generated fee payment challan at any branch of SBI after registration from the 2nd day till next three working days.

c)    The application submission process will complete after deposition of fees


  • The selection of candidates will be done through either both Written Examination and Interview or through Short-listing and Interview at the bank’s discretion.
  • Written examination will test the understanding in i) General English, ii) Quantitative Aptitude, iii) General Reasoning iv) Reasoning Ability, v) Computer Knowledge and vi) Professional Knowledge
  • The candidates have to secure a minimum percentile of marks (as decided by the bank) along with passing in each section of the test
  • The written test will be done through online mode
  • The bank will be analysing the response of candidates with others in order to detect pattern of similarity. Such cases if detected will be liable for rejection and debarment from the selection procedure


  • The candidates can apply ONLINE only through the website of State Bank of India at www.statebankofindia.com or www.sbi.co.in
  • The aspirants are advised to fill in all details as indicated by the Online Application Form
  • The aspirants are advised to refer to the website of the bank for instructions regarding uploading photograph and running signature at appropriate spaces
  • The application may not be accepted unless a candidate does not upload his photograph and signature
  • Only after payment of requisite fees, the application form will be considered as complete and can be considered for scrutiny and further selection


  • Any misleading and wrong information may lead to disqualification of candidature
  • All candidates are advised to keep the print copy of the Online Application Form and the Original Fee receipt for subsequent phases of selection
  • The candidates are also advised to keep a proof of their identity such as PAN card, Driving License, Voter ID for production as and when requested
  • All the eligibility conditions, age and qualification will be reckoned as on 1st of October 2012
  • The numbers of vacancies intimated are provisional declaration and may change as per the actual requirement of the bank
  • The bank reserves the right to decide the base criteria and change the number of vacancies intimated at its discretion
  • The decision of the bank in any matter relating to the selection will be final and binding on the candidates
  • However, for any such legal disputes all pleadings will be subject to the jurisdiction under the High Court of Mumbai
  • Any form of personification or canvassing will be dealt as a serious breach of conduct and disciplinary actions will be initiated against such candidates
