West Bengal Police WBPRB Inviting Application For Recruitment To The Posts Of Sub-Inspector/ Sub-Inspectress (Unarmed Branch) and Sergeant in Kolkata Police
As one of the most efficient Police forces of the country West Bengal Police is one of the most acclaimed forces in the country. With its recent notification, the WB Police is inviting application for recruitment to the posts of Sub-Inspector (Unarmed)/ Lady SI (Unarmed) profiles.
Name of the Positions: Sub-Inspector (Unarmed)/ Sub-Inspectress (Unarmed)
Number of Positions: 330 positions
- Sub-Inspector (Armed)- 118 positions
- Lady Sub-Inspector (Un-armed)- 27 positions
- Sergeant- 112 positions

Opening Date for Submission of Online Application: 19-July-2021
Last Date for Submission of Online Application: 19-August-2021
Pay band: The selected candidates will receive a remuneration in the scale of Rs. 32,100 – Rs. 82,900/- Level- 10 in the pay matrix.
Academic requirement: The candidates must have a Bachelors Degree of a recognized university or its equivalent.
Age Requirement: The applicants must have attained a min age of 20 and max age of 27 years as on 1-Jan-2021. However, there will be age relaxation in upper age limits for SC/ ST and other privileged candidates as per State Government Rules.
Physical Standard:
Sub-Inspector in Kolkata Police-
Candidates of all categories (Except Gorkhas, Garwalies, Rajbanshis and Scheduled Tribes): Height- 167 cm, Weight-56 kg, Chest- 79 cm with a minimum expansion of 5 cm
Gorkhas, Garhwalies, Rajbanshis and Scheduled Tribes: Height- 160 cm, Weight-52 kg, Chest- 76 cm with a minimum expansion of 5 cm
Sub Inspectress in Kolkata Police-
Candidates of all categories (Except Gorkhas, Garwalies, Rajbanshis and Scheduled Tribes): Height- 160 cm, Weight-48 kg
Gorkhas, Garhwalies, Rajbanshis and Scheduled Tribes: Height- 155 cm, Weight-45 kg
Sergeant in Kolkata Police-
Candidates of all categories (Except Gorkhas, Garwalies, Rajbanshis and Scheduled Tribes): Height- 173 cm, Weight-60 kg, Chest- 86 cm with a minimum expansion of 5 cm
Gorkhas, Garhwalies, Rajbanshis and Scheduled Tribes: Height- 163 cm, Weight-54 kg, Chest- 81 cm with a minimum expansion of 5 cm
Physical Efficiency Tests:
Sub-Inspector (Unarmed Branch) and Sergeant in Kolkata Police- 800 metres run within 3 minutes
Sub-Inspectress (Unarmed Branch) in Kolkata Police- 400 metres run within 2 minutes
Mode of Selection: The candidates will be selected on the basis of the following for recruitment positions before the Range Recruitment Board.
- Preliminary Examination of 200 Marks
(100 marks in General Studies having 50 questions, 50 marks in Logical & Analytical reasoning having 25 questions and 50 marks in Arithmetic having 25 questions), the duration of the examination being 90 minutes)
- Physical Measurement Test (PMT)
- Physical Efficiency Tests (PET)
- Final Written Examination (those who qualify in PMT and PET)- 200 Marks
Paper-I :- General Studies and Arithmetic for 100 marks (50 marks for General Studies, and 25 marks for
Logical & Analytical reasoning and 25 marks for Arithmetic) of 2 (two) hours duration.
Paper-II :- English of 50 marks of 1 (one) hour duration
Paper-III :- Bengali/Hindi/Urdu/Nepali of 50 marks of 1 (one) hour duration.
- Personality Test of 30 Marks to be conducted by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board
The selected candidates will be called for a medical examination at the State Government designated Hospitals before final appointment. The certificate of medical fitness will be issued by authorized Medical Officer.

In online mode of application, candidates are requested to submit application using the websites of West Bengal Police (wbpolice.gov.in) or Kolkata Police (kolkatapolice.gov.in)
In online mode of application, Applicants are suggested to pay the application fee on-line through payment gateway (Bill Desk) by using Debit Cards/ Credit Cards/ Net-Banking of any Bank. In that case, Rs. 5/- only will be charged by the concerned agency as “Service Charge” for availing Debit Card/ Credit Card/ Net Banking facility.
On successful submission of the application, the applicants shall be provided with an auto-generated receipt with unique Application Serial Number. Candidates are advised to preserve it safely and mention the Application Serial Number for all future references.
