Being one of the most recognized para-military service, a service with Sashastra Seema Bal under the direct control of Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, is known as one of the most respectable employments in Government sector jobs.
With the recent notification from the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), applications are being invited from unmarried male/ female Indian citizens for recruitment into para-veterinary cadre of Group-C, non-gazetted posts for the positions of Head Constable and Constable. The details of the vacancies and the modalities of application are described as under:
Vacant positions and number of vacancies:
- Head Constable (Veterinary) – 68 posts – Post Code – 01
- Constable (Veterinary) – 50 posts – Post Code – 02
Pay Provisions:
The proposed pay scale for the vacancies as mentioned above will be as per the following:
- Head Constable (Veterinary) – Pay Band- I – Rs. 5200-20200 + Rs.2400
- Constable (Veterinary) – Pay Band- I – Rs. 5200-20200 + Rs.2000
Apart from the basic pay scale the candidates selected for such positions will be eligible to get TA, DA, free clothing, washing allowance, Special allowances, Rations, Contributory PF, and other facilities as per the rules.
Important:
The candidates interested to apply for the vacant positions should not have any history of criminal activity or charges against him reported/ pending/ lodged at any police station in side India.

Reservations:
The reservation rules will be applicable as per norms laid down by Government of India.
- Out of 68 positions notified for Head Constable (Veterinary), 09 posts will be reserved for SC, 05 for ST, 16 for OBC and 07 for Ex-Servicemen.
- Likewise, out of 60 positions notified for Constable (Veterinary), 07 posts will be reserved for SC, 05 for ST, 12 for OBC and 05 for Ex-Servicemen..
Note:
- The total number of intimated vacancies may change as per the requirement
- All the positions are temporary only but likely to be permanent
- The candidates have to compete on an all India basis
- The selected candidates are liable to be posted anywhere in the country and outside as per the transfer policy
Application Fee:
- For General and OBC in both categories: Rs.50 (Rupees Fifty only)
- For SC, ST, Women and Ex-Servicemen: No Fee

Eligibility Criteria:
- 1. Head Constable (Veterinary):
Age: The interested candidate should be within 18-25 years of age as on 15th of September 2012. The upper age limit will be relaxed as per the norms. (For details log on to //www.ssbrectt.gov.in)
Academics: The interested candidate should possess 10+2 (Intermediate) in Science with Biology as a mandatory subject.
Desirable Experience: The aspirants should have one year experience in treatment of different species of animals in a recognized Veterinary Hospital.
- 2. Head Constable (Veterinary):
Age: The interested candidate should be within 18-23 years of age as on 15th of September 2012. The upper age limit will be relaxed as per the norms. (For details log on to //www.ssbrectt.gov.in)
Academics: The interested candidate should possess Matriculation pass certificate with Science as subject.
Desirable Experience: The aspirants should have one year experience in treatment of different species of animals in a recognized Veterinary Hospital.
Note:
- For Academics Certificates issued by other than central/state board should accompany with a copy of the government notification ensuring their equivalency.
- For consideration of claims under the OBC the applications should be enclosed with a certificate of claim.
Medical Fitness:
- All candidates/ aspirants have to undergo a Medical Fitness Test as required by the SSB. The detailed criteria for Medical Fitness can be found at //www.ssbrectt.gov.in.
- All those candidates claiming for relaxation for the defined Medical Standard have to submit their claim with the prescribed format.
- However, the candidates who failed on certain medical grounds can appeal for re-medical with payment of Rs.25 against review appeal.

- A recent photograph (passport size color) must be attached with the application at the defined space
- The application with fee in form of Draft/ IPO (only for Gen and OBC) may be sent to the designated address by post to reach on or before 15th of September 2012.
- The last date for receipt of applications for far flung areas is 7th of August 2012.

Selection Procedure:
The selection will be of multiple modalities and will incorporate:
Physical Efficiency (Endurance) Test (PET): As per the criteria as mentioned by the Service Selection Board. (Please refer to the website)
Written Examination: This will be of 100 marks and of 2 hours duration. The test will be conducted on OMR sheets.
Physical Standard Test (PST): Test of General Physique such as height, weight, chest measurements and vision.
Note:
- The minimum qualifying mark for written test for Head Constable will be 40% for General and Ex-Service persons and 35% for SC, ST and OBC candidates
- The minimum qualifying mark for written test for Constable will be 35% for General and Ex-Service persons and 33% for SC, ST and OBC candidates
- The candidates cannot use calculator, mobile phones, etc.
- Any candidate found guilty of practicing unfair means will not be eligible for next stages of recruitment process

The decision of Director General of the SSB will be final and binding on all applicants.
The Director General of the SSB retains the right to postpone/ cancel the selection at his discretion.
