Indian Air Force is one of the three major wings of Indian Armed Service Wings guarding the areal boundaries of the vast nation. Indian Air Force is also regarded as one of the major Air Combat Wings in the world as far as technology and warfare are concerned. With a glorious career and apposite respect for this job an employment in Indian Air Force is regarded as an imperial service with its repute and honor.

As the force signifies, it has a majority of job profiles associated with Flying and associated duties. Apart from the flying duties, Air Force also commissions various other services, those are required for administration, technical support as well as maintenance of this huge infrastructure.

With the recent initiative Indian Air Force invites enterprising and adventurous personnel for recruitment into its Commissioned ranks in the flying as well as ground duties. It also invites competent youths to be a part of this glorifying career oriented courses with its Short Service Commission. The details of the recruitment in to the courses are as follows:

Course Commencement Period: July 2013

Courses:      1. Flying Branch:      Short Service Commission

2. Technical Branch: Permanent/ Short Service Commission

3. Ground Duty Branch: Permanent/ Short Service Commission

Important date sheet for applying for various courses:

Commencement of Receipt of Online/ Offline Applications: 9th of June 2012

Terminal Date for Receipt of Online/ Offline Application:  9th of July 2012

Terminal Date for Receipt of Offline Application from the states of Assam, Manipur, Mozoram, Meghalaya, Tripura, Arunanchal Pradesh, Andaman, Nocobar, Lakshadweep and Minicoy Islands:   16th of July 2012

Scheduled Date for AFCAT-2012: 26th of August 2012 (Sunday)

Pay Packages and Other benefits:

As a service person of one of the most glorious profiles of jobs in India, you will be entitled to receive various advantages along with your pay package.

  1. Flying Branch: Pay band of Rs. 15,500 – Rs. 30,100 (An approximate monthly salary would be around Rs.61,580 including the TA/DA and other benefits/allowances)
  2. Technical Branch: The gross average monthly Income will be around Rs. 52,830
  3. Ground Duties: The expected Gross average monthly income will be Rs.50,330

Benefits: In addition to the monthly salary, the selected Officers will be entitled to receive fully furnished accommodation, monthly ration, comprehensive medical coverage (for self and family members), 60 days of annual leave, 20 days of casual leave, leave travel concession, etc.

Insurance: For the serving officers of Indian Air Force, an insurance of Rs.50 lakhs is available on a contributory basis. For the Flying Branch Officers, additional insurance of Rs.3.5 lakh is available on contributory manner.

Training:

  • The training for all the courses will commence from the First week of July 2013. For Flying Officer Personnel and Technical Officer Personnel, the training will be of 74 weeks duration and that for the Ground duties Officers will be of 52 weeks duration.
  • Training is a mandatory part of the courses and has to be successfully completed in order to receive the Commission.
  • The trainings will be conducted exclusively at the Air Force Training Establishments.

Norms of Eligibility:

  1. 1.        Flying Branch:

a)   Age: The candidate must be within 19-23 years of age as on 1st of July 2013, and should not have born earlier than 2nd of July 1990 and later than 1st of July 1994 (both these days are included for consideration).

b)   Educational Standards: The aspiring candidate must be a Graduate in any discipline with completion of 3 years of Degree Course from a recognized University/ Institution and has secured minimum of 60% of marks in aggregate and must have passed Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level. A candidate, who have completed a 4 years of BTech Degree course from a recognized University/ Institution and has secured at least 60% of marks in aggregate is also eligible for applying for the courses.

c)   Physical Standards: As per the service rules (please refer to Indian Air Force Website at //careerairforce.nic.in.

d)   PABT: The candidates who have failed to qualify for PABT in an earlier attempt or, a flying candidate who has been suspended from flying at an Air Force Academy will not be eligible for applying for the Flying branch.

  1. 2.        Technical Branch:

a)   Age: The candidate must be within 18-28 years of age as on 1st of July 2013, and should not have born earlier than 2nd of July 1985 and later than 1st of July 1995 (both these days are included for consideration).

b)   Educational Standards:

Aeronautical Engineer – Electronics – (AE-L) – The aspiring candidate must be a 4 years Degree holder from a recognized University / have cleared both Paper-A and Paper-B of AMIE/ Aeronautical Society of India/ Graduate Membership Examination of Institute of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineers (IETE) by actual study.

The candidate must have secured 60% marks in aggregate and must have studied at least 8 subjects out of 18 as specified on the website of Indian Air Force recruitment.

Aeronautical Engineer – Mechanical – (AE-M) – The aspiring candidate must be a 4 years Degree holder from a recognized University / have cleared both Paper-A and Paper-B of AMIE/ Aeronautical Society of India through actual study.

The candidate must have secured 60% marks in aggregate and must have studied at least 8 subjects out of 18 as specified on the website of Indian Air Force recruitment.

c)   Physical Standards: As per the service rules (please refer to Indian Air Force Website at //careerairforce.nic.in.

  1. 3.        Ground Duty Branches:

a)  Age:

i) The candidates whose educational qualification is Graduate only:

The candidate must be within 20-23 years of age as on 1st of July 2013, and should not have born earlier than 2nd of July 1990 and later than 1st of July 1993 (both these days are included for consideration).

ii) The candidates whose educational qualification is Post Graduation/ LLB (integrated course of 5 years):

The candidate must be within 20-25 years of age as on 1st of July 2013, and should not have born earlier than 2nd of July 1988 and later than 1st of July 1993 (both these days are included for consideration).

iii) The candidate whose educational qualification is LLB (three years of Law course after Graduation):

The candidate must be within 20-26 years of age as on 1st of July 2013, and should not have born earlier than 2nd of July 1987 and later than 1st of July 1993 (both these days are included for consideration).

iv) The candidate whose educational qualification is MEd/ PhD/ CA/ ICWA:

The candidate must be within 20-27 years of age as on 1st of July 2013, and should not have born earlier than 2nd of July 1986 and later than 1st of July 1993 (both these days are included for consideration).

b)   Educational Standards:

Branch-wise educational determinants are as follows:

i)     Administration & Logistics: The candidates must have secured minimum of 60% of marks in Graduation form a recognized University. The candidates having Post-Graduation or equivalent Diploma must have secured at least 50% in aggregate in such levels of qualifications.

ii)   Accounts: The candidates must have secured minimum of 60% aggregate marks in Graduation in Commerce (B.Com) from a recognized University or must have secured minimum aggregate of 50% from M.Com/ CA/ ICWA.

iii)  Education: Post Graduate Degree in any discipline with minimum scoring of 50% in aggregate when marks obtained in all papers are put together.

NOTE:

  • A separate Advertisement will be released for induction into Meteorological Branch in the advertisement of Employment News on 14th of July 2012.
  • The candidates awaiting results of their final year/ semester of examination are also eligible to apply if they have secured minimum of 60% marks in all the years / semesters so far and can produce the original/ provisional certificate on or before 15th of June 2013.

c)   Physical Standards: As per the service rules (please refer to Indian Air Force Website at //careerairforce.nic.in.

Selection Procedure:

The selection will be based on the following testing of eligibility patterns:

  1. 1.    Written test (AFCAT) on 26th of August 2012
  2. 2.    Further testing of short-listed candidates at any one of the Air Force Selection Boards (AFSB). This testing will be done in two stages (i.e. Stage-I and II)
  3. 3.    PABT for Flying Branch
  4. 4.    Medical Examinations on the basis of recommendations of AFSBs
  5. 5.    Announcement of Merit List
  6. 6.    10% of seats in Technical Branches and Ground Duties will be reserved for NCC ‘C’ certificate holders

b)    Select the notification AFCAT 02-2012 and click on ‘Apply Online’

c)    Fill up the requisite details with consistency and complete all required fields with authentic details

d)    Please keep a scanned image of Color passport size photo for uploading at appropriate spaces on the online application form.

Offline Mode:

a)   Download or Print or copy the application form in the format as specified in the advertisement published on the website of Air Force recruitment

b)   Fill up necessary details with photograph

c)   Forward the Application to AFCAT Cell, Post Box No:5, RK Puram (Main) P.O., New Delhi – 110066 by ordinary post only

NOTE: All the candidates applying for the courses as stated above are mandatorily required to submit their Email ID, which will be the only mode of communication to the candidates in future stages of recruitment. Applications received without Email ID will be summarily rejected.
