GPAT Exam or Graduate pharmacy Aptitude Test is conducted in order to allow the pharmacy graduates into the program of M. Pharma, so that scholarships can be offered to the pharmacy graduates. This test is conducted and organized by AICTE and it is since the academic year 2010-2011 that the test had been organized. No sooner than the aptitude test came into effect, a committee for National Monitoring was also constituted in order to monitor different issues in relation to the policies of the test.
The Eligibility Criteria:

The eligibility criteria for the candidates appearing for this aptitude exam include a bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy. This degree course in pharmacy should be for four years after 10+2. However, apart from possessing the bachelor’s degree, a person appearing for the final examination of B. Pharmacy can also sit for this exam.
Procedure of Application:
There is a particular procedure in which a candidate can apply for the aptitude test. The application can be filled only online from some of the specific websites. Direct application for the exam is not allowed, and this in turn, is a great reduction of the hassle involved in direct application.
The Structure of the Exam:
There is a particular structure that is followed by GPAT Exam. The exam consists of a single paper, and the duration of the exam is generally 3 hours, within which you would have to complete the exam. The paper consists of 100 questions and each question carries 1 mark. These are basically objective type multiple-choice questions and the candidate would have to mark the correct answer from among the four options. Each wrong answer will have negative marking, and one mark would be deducted for three wrong answers.
Similarity with GATE:
The pattern of this aptitude test is quite similar to that of GATE. In fact, it has been estimated that the pattern set for GPAT Exam 2012 would be quite similar to that of GATE 2009. In the Optical Response Sheet, the appropriate circle would be darkened by the candidate to indicate the correct answer. In fact, many other competitive exams in today’s date follow similar patterns for the exam answer sheets. The syllabus would obviously be different, and each year the committee responsible for carrying out the exam would follow different patterns of syllabus which would be informed to the candidates in advance.
Results:
There is also a particular time when the results of the GPAT Exam are announced. In most cases, the result is announced within April-May. The marks obtained are generally valid for a year. Within this time period, the candidates would be able to apply in different colleges on the basis of their marks.
