What is FMS?

Pre-requisites:
The candidates who wish to sit for this exam should have completed a three year Bachelor’s degree program in any discipline from a recognized university. The requirement of minimum marks is different for each discipline. For Arts, Social science or Commerce it is 50%, for Statistics or Mathematics it is 55%, for Engineering or Technology and Medicine it is 60%. The candidates who are to appear in the final year exam of their bachelor’s degree can also sit in the exam.
The test pattern:
The test consists of multiple choice questions and is of two hours duration. There is no prescribed syllabus for the exam. But the skills of the candidates are tested in Quantitative ability, Verbal ability, Analytical ability and Reasoning and English Comprehension.
The application form:
The form is available online and the students who fulfill the above mentioned criteria can log on to the official website of FMS to fill the form. For the General candidates the application fee for the form is Rs. 700 in recent years while for the candidates who belong to SC/ST category, it is Rs. 200. The payment for the form fee can be made through net banking or through credit card. It is imperative that the students fill the form carefully as the incomplete forms are at once rejected. The information bulletin has all the necessary instructions required to fill the form and the students must use it. The forms can be filled from the first week of September to the Second week of October.
The calendar of events:
Usually the test is held in the first week of December. The result for the written test is declared on the official website of FMS. There are various test centers where the test is conducted. The candidates are required to choose the desired centers as per their convenience.

There are various books available in the market that can help the students in preparing for the test. Apart from this, the students can also take private coatings for extensive preparations. The sample papers available on the net can also help the students in getting an idea of the type of questions asked in the examination.
