Andaman & Nicobar Islands being one of the small Union Territories of India, most of the departments related to law and orders as well as some other services such as Motor Vehicle management and Fire Service are maintained under the UT Police of Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The Police Department of this Union Territory looks after the recruitment for the UT Fire Service as its subordinate organization.
With the recent announcement, the Police Department of Andaman and Nicobar Islands has notified for induction of Police Constables in PB-I as Assistant Mechanics. The details of the eligibility requirements and the norms for selection are as mentioned below:

- Police Constable (Assistant Mechanic) in Fire Service – 01 Position (Unreserved)
Pay Scale Provisions:
- The applicant selected for the post will be eligible receive remunerations in a Scale of PB-I with Rs.5200-Rs.20200 and a Grade Pay of Rs.2000.
- Apart from this the candidate will be eligible for other allowances as per rules
Academic Requirements:
The candidate must have completed Matriculation and must have an ITI trade certification in the Motor Mechanism trade. Additionally the applicant must have at least 3 years of experience on Repair, Overhauling and Maintenance of Diesel and Petrol Engines.
Age Criteria:
The applicant should be within 18-25 years of age as on the last date of Application
- Note: Max age will be relaxed for 5 years for Ex-Servicemen and government Servants as per rules
Physical Requirements:
- Height: 168 cm
- Chest (normal): 81 Cm
- Chest (expanded): 85 cm
- Weight: 50 Kg
Physical Endurance Requirements:
Apart from this standard the candidates have to pass through Physical Endurance Test, which will comprise of:
- Race of 1 mile in 8 minutes and 30 seconds
- Long jump to 3.5 mtrs distance (in 3 chances)
- High Jump to 1.1 mtr height (in 3 chances)
Mode of Selection:
The selection of candidates will be done through the following stages:
- Verification of credentials (Preliminary Document Scrutiny)
- Physical Measurement Test
- Physical Endurance Test
- Trade Test
- Written Examination
- Interview
- Final Medical Test
