Indian Air Force invites unmarried male citizens of India and Nepal to join as an Airman in Group X (Technical) Trades and Group Y (Non-Technical for selection test in January February 2017 to join as Airmen in Group ‘X’ (Technical) Trades or Group ‘Y’ (Non-Technical) {Except Automobile Technician, Ground Training Instructor, IAF (Police), IAF (Security) and Musician} Trades or for both Groups ‘X&Y’ for intakes 01/2018 and 02/2018.

After successful Online Registration, a colour printout of duly filled application on A4 size paper along with all applicable attachments is also required to be sent to CASB, so as to reach CASB by 13 October 2016, by ordinary post only.
Age Limit: The candidate should not have born earlier than 07-July-1997 and later than 20-December-2000 (both these days are included for consideration).
Educational Qualification:
Group ‘X’ (Technical)- Passed Intermediate/10+2/ Equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics and English with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English. OR Passed Three years Diploma Course in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Automobile / Computer Science / Instrumentation Technology / Information Technology) from a Government recognized Polytechnic Institute with 50% marks in overall aggregate, and 50% marks in English in Diploma or in Intermediate/ Matriculation, if English is not a subject in Diploma Course.
Group ‘Y’ (Non-Technical) {Except Automobile Technician, GTI, IAF (P), IAF(S) and Musician} Trades- Passed Intermediate / 10+2 / Equivalent Examination in any stream/subjects approved by Central / State Education Boards with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.
Group ‘Y’ (Non-Technical) Medical Assistant Trade- Passed 10+2/ Intermediate / equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.
Both Groups ‘X&Y’ (Eligible for both Technical and Non – Technical)- Passed Intermediate/10+2/ Equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics and English with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English. Candidates will take the examination for Group ‘X’ and Group ‘Y’ subjects in one sitting and can qualify for Group ‘X’ or Group ‘Y’ or both i.e. if candidate passes in English, Physics and Mathematics, he is considered pass in Group ‘X’ and if he passes in English and Reasoning and General Awareness (RAGA) then he will be considered pass in Group ‘Y’. If a candidate clears in all the four subjects, he will be considered pass in Group ‘X’ and Group ‘Y’. Diploma holders are eligible to appear only for Group ‘X’.
Selection Procedure: The selection for Airmen will be done in multiple phases as per the following specifications:
Written Test: All candidates have to attend the Written Test. The pattern of questions will base on Physics, Mathematics and English of intermediate standards of CBSE syllabus for Group X. The pattern of questions will base on English of CBSE AISSCE syllabus and Reasoning and General Awareness (RAGA) for Group Y. The duration for this test will be 60 minutes. Candidates have to pass in all subjects and on aggregate.
Physical Fitness Test (PFT): The Physical Fitness Test will be conducted on the ground and candidates have to qualify the minimum physical fitness standard. The results will be announced on the same day at the venue.
Personal Interview: The candidates who have cleared the written test and PFT will have to appear Interview in working knowledge of English.
Trade Allocation Test (TAT): The specific TAT will be conducted at the Basic Training Institute, Air Force, Belgaum and all candidates under Group X will have to appear this test in two strings. (i.e. Electronics and Mechanical)
Medical Examination: The final phase of selection will be Medical Examination. The test will be done as per the norms for recruitment of Airmen in IAF.
Stipend During Training: Rs. 11,400/- per month
Pay Scale:
Group ‘X’ (Technical) Trades- Rs. 26,685/- per month (approximately) plus various allowances, which, in subsequent years, may rise as per the career progression of the individual.
Group ‘Y’ (Non-Technical)- {Except Automobile Technician, GTI, IAF (P), IAF(S) and Musician} Trades. Rs. 23,535/- per month (approximately) plus various allowances, which, in subsequent years, may rise as per the career progression of the individual.
