CENTRAL AIRMEN SELECTION BOARD – JOIN AS AN AIRMEN IN INDIAN AIR FORCE
Indian Air Force invites unmarried male citizens of India and Nepal to join as an Airmen in Group X (Technical) Trades and Group Y (Non-Technical) for selection test in September 2019 to join as Airmen in Group ‘X’ Trades (Except Education Instructor Trade) and Group ‘Y’ {Except IAF(S) and Musician} Trades for intakes 02/2020.
Enrollment is for an initial period of 20 years extendable up to the age of 57 years (subject to service conditions). Initially candidates will be sent for a Joint Basic Phase Training (JBPT) at Basic Training Institute, Belagavi (Karnataka). On successful completion of JBPT, candidates will be allocated trades and sent for trade training of specified duration.
AFTER SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF TRAINING, THE AIRMEN WILL BE DEPLOYED ON JOBS AS PER THEIR ALLOTTED TRADES.

Age Limit: The candidate should not have born earlier than 19 July 1999 and 01 July 2003 (both these days are included for consideration). In case, a candidate clears all the stages of the Selection Procedure, then the upper age limit as on date of enrollment is 21 years.
Educational Qualification:
Group ‘X’ (Technical)- Passed Intermediate/10+2/ Equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics and English with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English. OR Passed Three years Diploma Course in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Automobile / Computer Science / Instrumentation Technology / Information Technology) from a Government recognized Polytechnic Institute with 50% marks in overall aggregate, and 50% marks in English in Diploma or in Intermediate/ Matriculation, if English is not a subject in Diploma Course.
Group ‘Y’ (Non-Technical) {Except Medical Assistant and Musician} Trades- Passed Intermediate / 10+2 / Equivalent Examination in any stream/subjects approved by Central / State Education Boards with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English. OR Passed two years vocational course from Educational Boards listed as COBSE member with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in vocational course or in Intermediate/Matriculation if English is not a subject in Vocational Course.
Group ‘Y’ (Non-Technical) Medical Assistant Trade Only- Passed 10+2/ Intermediate / equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.
Both Groups ‘X&Y’ (Eligible for both Technical and Non – Technical)- Passed Intermediate/10+2/ Equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics and English with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English. Candidates will take the examination for Group ‘X’ and Group ‘Y’ subjects in one sitting and can qualify for Group ‘X’ or Group ‘Y’ or both i.e. if candidate passes in English, Physics and Mathematics, he is considered pass in Group ‘X’ and if he passes in English and Reasoning and General Awareness (RAGA) then he will be considered pass in Group ‘Y’. If a candidate clears in all the four subjects, he will be considered pass in Group ‘X’ and Group ‘Y’. Diploma holders are eligible to appear only for Group ‘X’.
Selection Procedure: The selection for Airmen will be done in multiple phases as per the following specifications:
Written Test: All candidates have to attend the Written Test. The pattern of questions will base on Physics, Mathematics and English of intermediate standards of CBSE syllabus for Group X. The pattern of questions will base on English of CBSE AISSCE syllabus and Reasoning and General Awareness (RAGA) for Group Y. The duration for this test will be 60 minutes. Candidates have to pass in all subjects and on aggregate.
Physical Fitness Test (PFT): The Physical Fitness Test will be conducted on the ground and candidates have to qualify the minimum physical fitness standard. The results will be announced on the same day at the venue.
Personal Interview: The candidates who have cleared the written test and PFT will have to appear Interview in working knowledge of English.
Trade Allocation Test (TAT): The specific TAT will be conducted at the Basic Training Institute, Air Force, Belgaum and all candidates under Group X will have to appear this test in two strings. (i.e. Electronics and Mechanical)
Medical Examination: The final phase of selection will be Medical Examination. The test will be done as per the norms for recruitment of Airmen in IAF. Details of medical standards for various Groups/Trades are available on CASB web portal www.airmenselection.cdac.in
Stipend During Training: During training, a stipend of Rs. 14,600/- per month shall be paid.
Pay Scale:
Group ‘X’ (Technical) Trades- Rs. 33,100/- per month (approximately) plus various allowances, which, in subsequent years, may rise as per the career progression of the individual.
Group ‘Y’ (Non-Technical)- {Except Automobile Technician, GTI, IAF (P), IAF(S) and Musician} Trades. Rs. 26,900/- per month (approximately) plus various allowances, which, in subsequent years, may rise as per the career progression of the individual.
Examination Fee: Rs.250/- is to be paid by the candidate while registering for the online examination. The payment can be made by using Debit Cards/ Credit Cards/Internet Banking through payment gateway. The examination fee can also be paid by Challan payment at any Axis Bank Branch.
