Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Thiruvananthapuram is the major office of the ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) dedicated towards the Space Research and development of Space Vehicles and Rocket Propulsion Technology. This is one of the premier indigenous establishments of Rocket Science in India, which has credit for many successful space launches. This centre houses the only indigenous space launching pad at TERLS (Thumba Equatorial Rocket Launching Station). This center as an advanced establishment of ISRO has been familiar as congregation of one of the most talented brains of India, in the fields of Rocket and Space Science and Research.
Recently the VSSC has announced notification to fill up the vacancies of Technician (Gr.-B), Draughtsman (Gr.B), Fireman-A and Cook.
The various eligibility criteria cited for the vacant positions are as follows:

Job Code- 1231: Electrician – 4 Posts (UR-3 & OBC-1) – Must have passed SSLC/SSC and should have completed ITI/ NTC/ NAC in Electrician Trade
Job Code- 1232: Chemical Operator – 3 Posts (UR) – Must have passed SSLC/SSC and should have completed ITI/ NTC/ NAC in Trades of Maintenance Mechanic, Instrument Mechanic, Attendant Operator, Laboratory Assistant for Chemical Plant
Job Code- 1233: Photography – 2 Posts (UR) – Must have passed SSLC/SSC and should have completed ITI/ NTC/ NAC in Photography Trade
Job Code- 1234: Turner – 2 Posts (UR-1, ST-1) – Must have passed SSLC/SSC and should have completed ITI/ NTC/ NAC in Turner Trade
Job Code- 1235: Refrigeration & AC – 2 Posts (OBC) – Must have passed SSLC/SSC and should have completed ITI/ NTC/ NAC in Refrigeration & AC Mechanic Trade
Job Code- 1236: Electroplater – 1 Post (UR) – Must have passed SSLC/SSC and should have completed ITI/ NTC/ NAC in Electroplater Trade
- Draughtsman-B: Pay Scale Rs.5200-Rs.20200 with Grade Pay of Rs.2000
Job Code- 1237: Mechanical – 4 Posts (UR-2, OBC-2, SC-1) – Must have passed SSLC/SSC and should have completed ITI/ NTC/ NAC in Draughtsman (Mechanical) Trade
- Cook: Pay Scale Rs.5200-Rs.20200 with Grade Pay of Rs.1900
Job Code- 1238: Cook – 2 Posts (UR-1, OBC-1, for Ex-Servicemen only) – Must have passed SSLC/SSC and should have at least 5 years experience as a Cook in a hotel or restaurant. Should have obtained certificate of competency as Cook from a recognized institution.
- Fireman-A: Pay Scale Rs.5200-Rs.20200 with Grade Pay of Rs.1900
Job Code- 1239: Fireman – 1 Post (SC-1) – Must have passed SSLC/SSC and should satisfy the physical Test and endurance standards.
Age Factor:
- The candidates aspiring to apply for the positions must not have crossed a maximum age limit of 35 years (for General candidates) as on 01-July-2013.
- The upper age relaxation for OBC, SC/ST and PWD candidates will be entitled to respective candidates as per the regulations of the Government of India.
- In normal conditions, the candidates belonging to OBC will be entitled for a relaxation of 3 years and that for a SC/ST candidate is relaxable up to 5 years.
