Formerly reputed as Special Service Bureau under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, Sashastra Seema Bal has attained a special status of paramilitary cadre. It has been officially inducted as a paramilitary force under Tire-II structure of the Union Government of India. Sashastra Seema Bal has been reputed to its honor and bravery in maintaining law and order within the regulations of the Central Armed Police Force guarding the borders. Better known as a wing of CAPF, Sashastra Seema Bal has retained a glorious career since its establishment in the year 1963 in the light of Indo-China conflict during that period.
Presently Sashastra Seema Bal is inviting application from dedicated and competent Indian male citizens to join the posts of Constable (General Duty) in the SSB and the BSF. The candidates should belong to the Border districts of Assam to be eligible to apply
The details of the eligibility criteria and the essential credentials are mentioned as under:
Posts to be Filled Up: Constable (General Duty)
Number of Vacancies:
- Shastra Seema Bal – 51 Posts (UR-39, and SC-12)
- Border Security Force – 238 posts (UR-125, SC-20, ST-40, OBC-53)
- Where no vacancies in the post are reserved for SC/ST/OBC, the candidates of such category may also apply provided, they fulfill all the eligibility conditions of general category
Most Important:
- The vacancies of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) are meant for the candidates belonging to the Baska, Chirang, Kokrajhar and Udalguri Border district of Assam only.
- Similarly the vacancies of Border Secruity Force (BSF) are meant for the candidates of Dhubri, Cachar and Karimganj district of Assam only.

Pay Provisions:
The proposed pay scale for the vacancies will be as per the following:
- Constable (General Duty) – Rs. 5200-20200 + Grade Pay of Rs.2000 under PB-I
Apart from the basic pay scale the candidates selected will be eligible to get allowances and other facilities as per rules
Age Criteria:
Age of the candidate should be within 18 to 23 years as on 1-Jan-2013. Upper age limit is relaxable for SC/ ST/ OBC candidates as per rules
Academic Requirements:
- The applicant should have passes Matriculation or its equivalent from a recognized board
Physical Standard: As per the rules and regulations of the CAPF Act
Selection Procedure :
The selection process shall consist of following stages:
- Documentation (All certificates, proofs and Application forms)
- Physical Standard Test (PST)
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
- Written Examination (only for those, who are selected in PST and PET)
- Final Medical Examination
- Review Medical Examination (for the candidates, who appeal against the Medical Examination with a DD for Rs.25 in favor of “PAO, SSB, MHA, New Delhi” and payable at State Bank of India, New Delhi)
- Verification of Credentials and Certificates
Note: The final selection list will be prepared in order of merit, category wise, after completion of Review Medical Examination. The cut off marks will be determined according to number of vacancies as well as after completion of whole recruitment process.
