Indian Railways jobs has always enticed Indians for its high profile structure, convenient working patterns, apposite remunerations and associated job security as a government profile of Job. Jobs in Indian Railways have always been adored as one of the highly respectable jobs with much advanced pay packages and facilities with perks. As one of the largest employers of the world Indian Railways has always been on the top of recruiters.
In continuation to its search of competent professionals from the young and educated mass of Indian, Indian Railway has recently published a notification for procurement of technicians at a centralized cadre. Through this notification, Indian Railways is going for selection of competent professionals for its different levels of operation as Technicians and it is expected to select the candidates on a national basis by all the RRBs with a coordinated effort.
Cadre of the Vacant Positions:
ASSISTANT LOCO PILOT: 5696 Vacancies
Pay Provisions: Scale of Pay Level 02 of 7th CPC Pay Matrix with initial pay of Rs. 9900/- plus other allowances as admissible.
Apart from the basic pay scale the candidates selected for such positions will be eligible to get TA, DA, HRA, Accommodation, Special duty allowances, Contributory PF, leave Encashment, Leave benefits and other facilities as per the prevailing rules and recommendations by the Indian railways.
Application Fee:
Rs. 250/- for For Candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ Ex-Serviceman/ PWDs/ Female/ Transgender/ Minorities/ Economically backward class
Rs. 500/- for all Other candidates
The application fees can be paid through online mode only.
Eligibility Criteria:
1. AGE:
The interested candidate should be within the age group of 18-30 years and would be reckoned as on July 01, 2024. The upper age limit for privileged class will be relaxed as per the norms of the government for specific categories of recruitment.
2. Academics:
The interested candidate should possess Matriculation/ SSLC plus ITI from recognized institutions of NCVT/ SCVT in the following trades: Fitter, Electrician, Instrument Mechanic, Millwright/ Maintenance Mechanic, Mechanic (Radio & TV), Electronics Mechanic, Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Wireman, Tractor Mechanic, Armature & Coil Winder, Mechanic (Diesel), Heat Engine, Turner, Machinist, Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning Mechanic. OR
The interested candidate should possess Matriculation/ SSLC plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the mentioned trades is also accepted. OR
The interested candidate should possess Matriculation/ SSLC plus a three-year Diploma in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Automobile Engineering, or a combination of various streams of these Engineering disciplines from a recognized institution in lieu of ITI.
Note: A degree in the mentioned Engineering disciplines will also be acceptable in lieu of a Diploma in Engineering.

Selection Procedure: There shall be two stages examination (First stage CBT and Second Stage CBT) for ALP. In addition , candidates who qualified in Second Stage CBT have to undergo Computer Based Aptitude Test (AT). Marks will be normalized in all the stages of exam.
There shall be negative marking for incorrect answers in First and Second Stage CBT. 1/3rd of the marks allotted for each question shall be deducted for each wrong answer. There shall be no negative marking for Computer Based Aptitude Test.
First Stage CBT (Common for ALP/Technician): Duration: 60 Min, No of Questions: 75
Minimum percentage of marks for eligibility in various categories : UR -40%, OBC-30%, SC-30%, ST -25%. These percentage of marks for eligibility may be relaxed by 2% for PWD candidates in case of shortage of PWD candidates against vacancies reserved for them.
The First Stage CBT is of screening nature. The score of first stage exam shall be used only for short listing of candidates for second stage exam as per their merit.
Syllabus of First Stage CBT
Mathematics Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work; Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square Root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern etc.
General Intelligence and Reasoning Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decision Making, Similarities and Differences, Analytical reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions etc
General Science The syllabus under this shall cover Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences of 10th standard level.
General awareness on current affairs in Science & Technology, Sports, Culture, Personalities, Economics, Politics and other subjects of importance.
Second Stage CBT: Total Duration:2 hours and 30 Minutes. The Second Stage CBT shall have two parts viz Part Aand Part B.
PART A Duration: 90 Min, No of Questions: 100
PART B Duration: 60 Min, No of Questions: 75
Total number of candidates to be shortlisted for second stage shall be 15 times the community wise total vacancy of ALP and Technician Posts notified
Computer Based Aptitude Test (Only for candidates who have opted for ALP): The candidate needs to secure a minimum score of 42 marks in each of the test batteries to qualify. This is applicable to all candidates and no relaxation is permissible.
Document Verification and Empanelling of Candidates Based on the performance of candidates in Part Aof the Second Stage CBT subject to their qualifying the Part B of Second Stage CBT (For Technician posts) and based on the performance of candidates in both Part A of the Second Stage CBT and Computer Based AT subject to their qualifying the Part B of Second Stage CBT (For ALP), candidates equal to the number of vacancies will be called for Document Verification
