Public Service Commission, West Bengal to hold the limited departmental examination 2017 for recruitment to the posts of Disaster Management Officer, under the directorate of Disaster Management, West Bengal Disaster Management Department (wbdmd.gov.in), Government of West Bengal.
Disaster Management Officer: 44 Vacancies, in the scale of pay (Pay Band- 3) Rs.7,100-37,600/- + Grade Pay of Rs. 3900/- plus Allowances
Eligibility Criteria– Employees having a degree of a recognized university and holding clerical post for five years in the Department of Disaster Management, the Directorate of Disaster Management, Collectorates and sub-divisional and Block offices under the Collectorates are eligible to appear.
Candidates are required to submit a certificate from the Head of the Office/ Department as to their length of service in a clerical post in relevant office along with a hardcopy of Application Format.

West Bengal Government focussed to prioritize the system of disaster management and for this purpose West Bengal Government has brought three Departments as Disaster Management, Fire and Emergency Services, and Civil Defence under one minister so that it becomes effective to proper coordination in crisis and ensure holistic disaster management.
The Disaster Management Officer will be responsible for impact oriented delivery of West Bengal Disaster Management strategy and plan, will take lead in design and implementation of initiatives to build capacity of all stakeholders, consultation with various stakeholders on variety of disaster management activities, internal and external coordination of the work, support in managing budget, work planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of DRR activities, to provide support to the government of West Bengal to coordinate DM activities, and in functional line of state level Disaster Management Expert.
