Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemical Limited was setup in 1993 at Mangalore as a subsidiary of ONGC. It was established at Katipalla near Mangalore by displacing five villages namely Kuthetoor, Katipalla, Kalavar, Balla and Adyapadi. It was initially setup with processing capacity of approximately 3 million metric tonnes and was later increased to 15 million metric tonnes per annum. MRPL is designed as such to provide a versatility of processing of crudes of various API with higher degree of automation. It is the only refinery in India which posses two hydrocrackers that produce premium diesel of high cetane and also the only refinery in India to have two CCRs which produce high octane unleaded petrol. MRPL has also been rewarded with the title of mini jewel i.e. Miniratna in the year 2007.
Earlier it was a joint venture company which later on converted into PSU subsequent when ONGC acquires its majority share. Currently, ONGC acquires maximum 71.62% of shares of MRPL while 16.95% are held by the HPCL and remaining is held by other public and financial institutions. With a revenue of Rs. 57207 crore and net income of Rs. 909 crore MRPL stood still as one of the leading manufacturer of crude oil in India.
MRPL has recently issued notice regarding the recruitment of general manager finance, deputy manager finance, senior executive finance, executive finance, executive materials, workmen chemical, workmen mechanical, workmen instrumentation and workmen electrical in W-1 and W-2 grade, manager law, manager and chief manager shipping. These vacancies range from senior candidates to freshers ho are seeking job in public sector. Minimum required age is 33 years and maximum required age is 52 years. Jobs related to the field of finance require the minimum qualification of CA/ ICWA /MBA by the candidate while jobs related to technical sections require the degree or diploma in engineering and non technical jobs require degree in MBA with prescribed specialisation.
