Indian Air Force has invited applications from unmarried Indian nationals for post of airman in Group ‘X’ (Technical) trades. Candidates of various districts of State of Tamil Nadu (ARIYALUR, CHENNAI, COIMBATORE, CUDDALORE, DHARMAPURI, ERODE, KARUR, KANCHEEPURAM, KRISHNAGIRI, NAGAPATTINAM, NAMAKKAL, NILGIRIS, PERAMBALUR, SALEM, THANJAVUR, TIRUVARUR, THIRUVANNAMALAI, TIRUVALLUR, TIRUPUR, TRICHY, VILLUPURAM, and VELLORE) and UTs of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Puducherry and Karaikal are required to attend recruitment rally only.
Nature of The Post:
Group X technical trade would involve jobs like Automobile Fitter, Electronics Fitter, Electrical Fitter, Mechanical System Fitter, Structures Fitter, Propulsion Fitter, Workshop Fitter (Smith), Workshop Fitter (Mechanical) and Weapon Fitter.
Recruitment Rally Venue: Voorhees College, Vellore (Tamil Nadu)
The Recruitment Test will be conducted from 7 AM onwards. Candidates reporting upto 10 AM at the Rally venue will only be permitted to appear in the Recruitment Rally.

Eligibility Criteria:
Candidate should be a permanent domicile of State of Tamil Nadu and UTs of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Puducherry and Karaikal or must have completed his education from any of the university that resides in given geographical boundaries.
Eligible candidates must have done intermediate or 10+2 or equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics and English with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.
OR, 3 year diploma course in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Automobile/ Computer Science/ Instrumentation Technology/ Information Technology with at least 50% marks in overall aggregate from a Government recognised Polytechnic Institute.
Age Limit:
Anyone applying for these posts must have born between 01-01-1992 to 31-03-1996 (dates inclusive).
Pay Scale:
Appointed candidates shall be paid a stipend of Rs. 8550/- pm during training period. After successful completion he will be subjected to a pay of Rs. 21414/- pm including all allowances which may rise up to Rs. 37,788/- pm depending on the rank.
Selection Process:
1. Certificates / Mark Sheets and other required documents {NCC ‘A’, ‘B’ or ‘C’ Certificate, Son of Air Force Personnel Certificate (SOAFP)} etc will be scrutinized and verified.
2. Written Test:
All candidates have to attend the Written Test
The pattern of questions will base on Physics, Mathematics and English of intermediate standards of CBSE syllabus. The duration for this test will be 60 minutes for Group X. The results will be declared on the same day at the ground.
3. Physical Fitness Test (PFT): The PFT will be conducted on the ground and candidates have to qualify the minimum physical fitness standard. The results will be announced on the same day at the venue.
4. Personal Interview: The candidates who have cleared the written test and PFT will have to appear Interview in working knowledge of English.
5. Trade Allocation Test (TAT): The specific TAT will be conducted at the Basic Training Institute, Air Force, Belgaum and all candidates under Group X will have to appear this test.
6. Medical Examination: The final phase of selection will be Medical Examination. The test will be done as per the norms for recruitment of Airmen in IAF.
Those candidates, who have been disqualified and want to re-appear Medicals, have to submit a Military Receivable Order (MRO) of Rs.40 favor of 14 Airmen Selection Centre(Kochi), along with copy of disqualification certificate and a self-addressed envelope with Rs.25 stamp affixed, in 14 Airmen Selection Centre(Kochi), within 7 days from the date of issue of Medical Disqualifying Certificate.
NOTE:
- The candidates are advised to clean their ear, teeth, hair, nails before applying for the Medical Test.
- The candidates should be prepared to stay for 4-5 days at their own cost for complete selection procedure.
How can you get entry?
- The entry to the grounds of selection is open to all eligible candidates.
- The candidates have to submit their proof of age, education and other necessary credentials along with the Application Form at the rally only.
- No candidates will be allowed into the rally without his Original matriculation Certificate
- No Application form is required to be sent to the Air Force selection centre prior to the date of rally.

Successful candidates will be Joint Basic Phase Training (JBPT) for one year at Basic Training Institute, Belgaum (Karnataka). On successful completion of Joint Basic Phase Training, candidates will be allocated trades and sent for Trade Training. After successful completion of trade training, the airmen will be deployed on ground based jobs as per their trades. Thereafter candidates will be enrolled is for an initial period of twenty years extendable up-to the age of 57 years.
