Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is one of the most renowned entrance examinations of our country allowing an opportunity for under-graduate Engineering Degree students to take admission into post-graduate courses like MTech, ME or a direct entry into admission for PhD programs. While the GATE scores are now considered as eligibility criteria for various job profiles at PSUs and even for higher studies in some countries like USA and Canada.
The GATE 2013 has been announced and you need to make yourself acquainted with the eligibility norms in order to qualify in the test procedure. You need to have this qualification as a minimum requirement for appearing GATE exam 2013. You must understand this very carefully so that you would ensure that you have the requisite skills and qualification on the date of the examination.
The basic examination eligibility for aspirants from various courses are:
a) BTech/ BE/ BArch – The candidate must have completed Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/ Architecture/ Technology by 2013. The course must be for a total duration of 4 years. Those candidates appearing for the 4the or final year of the examination can also apply for the GATE 2013.
b) MCA/ MSc/ MA or Equivalent – The candidates must have cleared/ be in the final year of Master’s Degree in any branch of Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Application or equivalent by 2013.
c) Integrated ME/ MTech/ Dual Degree (after Diploma/10+2) – The candidates continuing in the 4th/ 5th year or those who have completed such academic qualification by 2014 are eligible to apply.
d) Integrated ME/ MTech (Post BSc) – The candidates continuing in 2nd or 3rd or 4th Year or who have completed integrated ME/ MTech with BSc by 2015 are eligible to apply for GATE 2013.
e) Professional Study Examination (Equivalent to BE/ BArch/ BTech) – The candidates who have completed section A or equivalent of such professional study examination as recognized by UPSC/ MHRD or AICTE (such as AMIE or AMICE, etc) are eligible to apply for GATE 2013.
Important Certificate to be submitted during the submission of application form:
a) For candidates who have completed the course by 2012: The candidates must submit their educational qualification degree certificate/ course completion certificate/ provisional course completion certificate during the time of online registration/ by post to the GATE 2013 authorities.
b) For candidates who are in the final year of the requisite course: Such candidates must submit a certificate from the Principals of their respective educational institution. Such candidates have to take a signature from their principal on the printed copy of the finally submitted GATE application online. This printed copy of the online application can be downloaded in the PDF format after submission of online application.
c) Candidates having previous backlog for certain courses: Such candidates have to submit a declaration/ certificate from the Principal of the concerned institution regarding their non-availability of course completion certification due to any particular backlog in a particular semester. This certificate will be provided by the GATE Authorities, which can be downloaded in the PDF format after completion of online application.
