The Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre, Kolkata invites applications for engagement Stipendiary Trainees in Category-I and Category-II of positions through its operational coverage. This selection is only for 58 numbers of positions through competent recruitment norms.
The details of the criteria is as mentioned below:

Category-I Details of the vacancies Discipline-wise and Academic norms: Total 14 Positions
- Discipline – Physics – 09 positions (UR-03, UR-VH-01, SC-01, OBC-01) – B.Sc. with minimum 60% marks with Physics as a major Subject and Mathematics as second selection of subject
- Discipline – Mechanical – 01 Position (OBC) – Minimum 60% marks in Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
- Discipline – Electronics / Instrumentation – 02 Positions – (UR-01, UR-HH-01) – Minimum 60% marks in Diploma in Electronics / Instrumentation Engineering
- Discipline – Computer – 01 Position (OBC) – Minimum 60% marks in Diploma in Computer Engineering
- Discipline – Civil – 01 Position (UR) – Minimum 60% marks in Diploma in Civil Engineering
Category-II Details of the vacancies Discipline-wise and Academic norms: Total 44 Positions
- Discipline – Plant Operator – 05 Positions (UR (Specifically for Crane &Forklift Operation) -01, OBC-02, SC-01, ST-01) – Higher Secondary (10+2) in Science stream with a minimum 60% marks in aggregate
- Discipline – Library – 01 Position (OBC) – Higher Secondary (10+2) in Science stream with a minimum 60% marks in aggregate (certificate course in Library Science and experience in Library will be preferred at the discretion of this Centre).
- Discipline – Fitter – 10 Positions (UR-06, OBC-01, SC-03) – 10+2 with a minimum 60% marks in aggregate plus trade certificate of minimum 1 year duration in relevant trade
- Discipline – Electronics – 15 Positions (UR-02, UR-OH-01, OBC-04, SC-05, ST-03) – 10+2 with a minimum 60% marks in aggregate plus trade certificate of minimum 1 year duration in relevant trade
- Discipline – Engineering Draughting – 01 Position (OBC – OH) – 10+2 with a minimum 60% marks in aggregate plus trade certificate of minimum 1 year duration in relevant trade
- Discipline – Electrical – 03 Positions (UR) – 10+2 with a minimum 60% marks in aggregate plus trade certificate of minimum 1 year duration in relevant trade
- Discipline – Turner – 02 Positions (UR-01, OBC-01) – 10+2 with a minimum 60% marks in aggregate plus trade certificate of minimum 1 year duration in relevant trade
- Discipline – Air Conditioning – 03 Positions (UR) – 10+2 with a minimum 60% marks in aggregate plus trade certificate of minimum 1 year duration in relevant trade
- Discipline – Machinist– 03 Positions (UR-02, OBC-01) – 10+2 with a minimum 60% marks in aggregate plus trade certificate of minimum 1 year duration in relevant trade
- Discipline – Mechanic (Motor Vehicle) – 01 Position (UR) – 10+2 with a minimum 60% marks in aggregate plus trade certificate of minimum 1 year duration in relevant trade
Age requirement:
- For category-I candidates: The candidate must be minimum of 19 years and should not exceed 24 years as on 15-April-2013.
- For category-II candidates: The candidate must be minimum of 18 years and should not exceed 22 years as on 15-April-2013.
- However, there will be relaxation in upper age limit for SC/ST/ OBC category of candidates.
Total Duration of Training Period :
- Category-I: Two Years
- Category-II: Two Years
Stipendiary Provisions:
- Category-I: (i) Rs.9300 per month for 1st year
(ii) Yet to be finalized for 2nd year.
- Category-II: (i) Rs.6200 per month for 1st year
(ii) Rs.7200 per month for 2nd year
- In addition to above, both Category-I & II trainees will be given a onetime Book Allowance of Rs.1500.
- No other allowances will be admissible for the trainee candidates
Accommodation: The Trainees have to make their own arrangement for stay during the training. However, in exceptional cases, hostel/ sharing accommodation may be provided by the Centre subject to availability.
Post-training Appointment:
Upon successful completion of training, the Cat-I trainees will be considered for absorption in the post of Scientific Assistant/C and Cat-II trainees will be considered for absorption in the post of Technician/B or Technician/C depending on their performance during the period of training and personal interview to be held at the end of the training.
- The pay scale for Category-I Scientific Assistant/C: Rs.9300-Rs.34800 with a Grade Pay of Rs.4600
- The Pay scale for Category-II Technician/B: Rs.5200-Rs.20200 with a Grade Pay of Rs.2000
- The Pay scale for Category-II Technician/C: Rs.5200-Rs.20200 with a Grade Pay of Rs.2400
Service Bond:
Selected candidates will have to execute a bond to complete the training and serve VECC, Kolkata or any of the constituent Units of DAE, if offered appointment after the training, for a period of 4 years after absorption.
Any candidate failing to honor the bond will have to pay back the full amount of stipend and emoluments with interest to VECC
Mode of Selection:
The selection will be done on the basis of Merit through the marks obtained in the qualifying Written Examination and Interview. The candidates will be called for a trade test/ Viva voce test before final induction.

b) Application should preferably be type written on A4 size paper.
c) The Application and the outer cover should be super-scribed as “Application for the post No._________ of Category/ Category II against Advertisement No.VECC-1/2013.”
d) Only one application should be submitted for one post. If candidate wishes to apply for more than one post, separate application should be submitted for each post.
e) All photocopy of credentials and other certificates must be attached with the application form during submission
