Invitation Of Candidature By Assam PSC For Various Teaching Posts In Govt. Technical Colleges

With an intention to fill up various vacancies under the Jorhat Institute Of Science & Technology (JIST) – Jorhat & Bineswar Brahma Engineering College (BBEC) – Kokrajhar under the Higher Education (Technical) Deptt. of Government of Assam, applications are invited in prescribed format from the competent candidates by Assam Public Service Commission (APSC). The details of the application and the procedure for submission of application are detailed as under.
Essential Requirements:
- The candidates must be within the age group specified for each post. The age will be determined from the Matriculation/ HSLC/ HSSLC certificates
- The candidate must fulfill the minimum educational norms for each position as defined in subsequent sections
- The candidate must be a Indian citizen as defined in Article 5 and 8 of the Indian Constitution to be eligible for apply to these job positions
How to obtain the application from:
- The application form is available at the Commissions website at www.apsc.nic.in
- The applications can be obtained physically from the Assam PSC office at Khanapara, Guwahati
Application fees:
- For SC/ ST category: Rs. 2.50
- For all others: Rs.5.00
How to Pay the Application Fee:
- The application fee can only be paid in form of Treasury Challan deposited in favor or ‘Non Tax Revenue-Other Non Tax Revenue-0051-Psc, 102-State Public Service Commission Application/Examination Fee Receipt Of APSC’
- No other forms of payment will be accepted
Important Dates:
- Date of starting of availability of application form and starting date for receipt of completed application form: 26th of July 2012
- Last date for availability of application and receipt of completed application form: 30th of August 2012
- Last date for receipt of application form from the Government and private employees through proper channel: Within 10 days after the 30th of August 2012
Mode of Selection:
- Depending upon the availability of candidature the Commission may decide to conduct written test or Interview or both for selection of candidates.
- The due course of selection will be intimated by the APSC and will be made available on the website of APSC at www.apsc.nic.in
Details of Posts and requirements thereof:
1. Principal (Open category) – 01 Post
Scale of Pay: Rs.37400 – Rs.67000 plus Academic Grade Pay of Rs.10000 with special pay of Rs.3000 PM and other allowances as admissible
Academics: 1st Class Degree in BE/ BTech or ME/ MTech level with PhD Degree in Engineering. Post-PhD publication and guiding PhD students is essential requirement.
Age: 45 – 55 years as on 1st December 2012 with relaxation applicable to SC/ST. No Age bar for Departmental Candidates.
Experience: Minimum 10(Ten) years experience in Teaching/ Research/ Industry out of which at least 3 years should be at the level of Professor in Engineering Degree College.
2. Professor (One each for Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering and Chemical & Process Control Engineering – Open category) – 03 Posts
Scale of Pay: Rs.37400 – Rs.67000 plus Academic Grade Pay of Rs.10000 with other allowances as admissible
Academics: 1st Class Degree in BE/ BTech or ME/ MTech level with PhD Degree in relevant branches of Engineering. Post-PhD publication and guiding PhD students is highly essential requirement.
Age: 34 – 50 years as on 1st December 2012 with relaxation applicable to SC/ST. No Age bar for Departmental Candidates.
Experience: Minimum 10 years experience in Teaching/ Research/ Industry out of which 5 years should be at the level of Associate Professor
Or, minimum 13 years experience in Teaching and/ or Research and/ or Industry
3. Associate Professor – 12 Posts
- Power Electronics & Instrumentation Engg (3 Posts – 1 STP, 1 OBC/MOBC, 1 SC)
- Electronics & Telecom Engg (3 Posts – 1 STP, 1 OBC/MOBC, 1 SC)
- Electronics & Instrumentation Engg (3 Posts – 1 STP, 1 OBC/MOBC, 1 SC)
- Chemical & Process Control Engg (3 Posts – 1 STP, 1 OBC/MOBC, 1 SC)
Scale of Pay: Rs.37400 – Rs.67000 plus Academic Grade Pay of Rs.9000 with other allowances as admissible

- Civil Engineering – 7 posts – 1 STP, 1 OBC/MOBC, 1 SC, 1 STH, 3 OC
- Mechanical Engineering – 6 posts – 1 STP, 1 OBC/MOBC, 1 SC, 3 OC
- Power Electronics and Instrumentation Engg – 4 posts – 1 STP, 1 OBC/MOBC, 1 SC, 1 STH, 1 OC
- Electronics & Telecom Engg – 5 posts – 1 STP, 1 OBC/MOBC, 1 SC, 1 STH, 2 OC
- Electronics & Instrumentation Engg – 6 posts – 1 STP, 1 OBC/MOBC, 1 SC, 3 OC
- Chemical & Process Control Engg – 5 posts – 1 STP, 1 OBC/MOBC, 1 SC, 2 OC
Scale of Pay: Rs.15600 – Rs.39100 plus Academic Grade Pay of Rs.6000 with other allowances as admissible
Academics: 1st Class Degree in BE/ BTech or ME/ MTech level in relevant branches of Engineering
Age: 21 – 38 years as on 1st December 2012 with relaxation applicable to SC/ST
5. Assistant Professor (Non-Technical) – 23 Posts
- Physics – 7 posts – 1 STP, 1 OBC/MOBC, 1 SC, 1 STH, 3 OC
- Chemistry – 4 posts – 1 STP, 1 OBC/MOBC, 1 SC, 1 OC
- Mathematics – 9 posts – 1 STP, 2 OBC/MOBC, 1 SC, 1 STH, 4 OC
- Humanities (English) – 2 posts – 1 STP, 1 OBC/MOBC
- Humanities (Economics) – 1 post – 1 OC
Scale of Pay: Rs.15600 – Rs.39100 plus Academic Grade Pay of Rs.6000 with other allowances as admissible
Academics: Master Degree in concerned discipline with 55% marks (5% marks relaxable in case of SC, ST, and PWD) and NET or SLET qualified
Or, Master Degree in concerned discipline with above percentage of marks and PhD in the same discipline
Age: 21 – 38 years as on 1st December 2012 with relaxation applicable to SC/ST
