No. 44 Short Service Commission (424SSC) Course
The engagement period of SSC Flying Branch is 14 years from the date of commissioning.
- Technical Branch:
No. 58 Short Service Commission (58 SSC) Course
The engagement period of SSC Technical Branch is 10 years that is extendable up to maximum of four years on basis of willingness, service requirements, and availability.
- Ground Duty Branches:
No. 46 Short Service Commission (46 SSC) Course
The engagement period of SSC Technical Branch is 10 years that is extendable up to maximum of four years on basis of willingness, service requirements, and availability.
Age Limit: As on 01 January 2015
- For flying branch: Minimum 19 years and maximum 23 years
- For technical Branch: Minimum 18 years and maximum 28 years
- For Ground Duty Branches: Minimum 20 years, and maximum 23 years for Graduates, 25 years for Post Graduate/ LLB (5 years integrated course), 26 years for LLB (3 years course after graduation), and 27 years for M Ed/ Ph D/ CA/ ICWA.
Note: Candidates below 25 years of age must be unmarried and marriage is not permitted during training. Married candidates above 25 years of age are eligible to apply.

Educational Qualification:
- For Flying branch:
Graduation (Minimum three year degree course) in any discipline minimum 60% marks and have passed Math and Physics at 10+2 level OR BE / B Tech degree (Four year course) from a recognized University with minimum 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together.
- For Technical Branch:
Aeronautical Engineer ((Electronics/ Mechanical) with a minimum of four year degree qualification from a recognized University or cleared Sections A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India or Graduate membership examination of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers by actual studies. Candidates should also fulfill the essential subjects’ conditions for Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics/ Mechanical), as mentioned in official advertisement link mentioned below. - For Ground Duty branches:
Administration & Logistic Branch: Graduate Degree (Minimum three year degree course) in any discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or a Post Graduate Degree / equivalent Diploma in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks.
Accounts Branch: Graduate Degree in Commerce (B Com)(Minimum three year degree course) with a minimum of 60% marks or Post Graduate Degree in Commerce (MCom) / CA/ ICWA with a minimum of 50% marks.
Education Branch: Post Graduate Degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers put together.
Selection Process:
Selection process will be based on the performance in AFCAT followed by Stage- I Test including Intelligence Test and after that Stage – II testing including, Psychological Test, Group Test, and Interview conducted by Air Force Selection Boards (AFSBs).
Note: For Flying Branch candidates must appear for Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT) after Stage-II testing would be administered based on their choice of branch/eligibility.
