West Bengal College Service Commission, invited online applications from eligible candidates for the 24th State Eligibility Test (SET) for the posts of Assistant Professors in Universities and Colleges of West Bengal in the various disciplines as Bengali, English, Chemical Sciences, Commerce, Computer Science and Applications, Economics, Education, Electronic Science, Geography, Hindi, History, Home Science, Library & Information Science, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Philosophy, Physical Education, Physical Sciences, Political Science, Psychology, Sanskrit, Santhali, Sociology, and Urdu.
The State Eligibility Test (SET) will be held on 8th January, 2023 for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the Eligibility for Assistant Professor only in West Bengal. WBCSC will conduct The State Eligibility Test in 33 subjects.
Eligibility for Assistant Professor will depend on the performance of the candidate in both the papers of SET in aggregate. The Test will consist of two papers. Both the papers will consist of only objective type questions and will be held on 8th January, 2023 in two separate sessions.
Paper I – 100 Marks, 1 Hour (10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.), 50 Questions
WB SET 2022 Paper I shall consist of 50 objective type compulsory questions, each carrying 2 marks. The questions paper will be of general nature, intended to Assess the teaching, research aptitude of the candidate. To test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate.
There are no negative marks of incorrect answers.
Paper II – 200 Marks, 2 Hours (12:00 Noon to 02:00 P.M.), 100 Questions
WB SET 2022 Paper II shall consist of 100 objective type compulsory questions from the subject selected by the candidate, carrying 2 marks each. All the questions of Paper II will be compulsory, covering entire syllabus of earlier Paper II and Paper III (including all electives).

Commencement of online Application: 16th August, 2022
Last Date for Online Application/ Payment of Application Fee: 15th September 2022 EXTENDED TO 18th September 2022
Date of Examination: 8th January, 2023 [The candidates are required to bring a photo identity card along with their printout of online admit card on the day of examination]

Eligibility Norms: Candidates must have passed Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from Universities/ Institutions recognised by UGC in a relevant subject with at least 55% Marks (50% Marks in respect of OBC/ SC/ ST/ PWD Candidates) or an equivalent grade.
Candidates pursuing Post Graduate courses are also eligible to appear for SET, subject to the condition that they must obtain their Post Graduate degree in a relevant subject with at least 55% Marks (50% Marks in respect of OBC/ SC/ ST/ PWD Candidates) within two years from the date of holding of the SET.
NET/ SET/ SLET shall remain the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professors. The candidates who have passed the UGC/CSIR JRF examination prior to 1989 are also exempted from
appearing in NET/SET.
The candidates who have cleared the State Eligibility Test (SET) accredited by UGC for eligibility for Assistant Professor held prior to 1st June 2002, being eligible to apply for Assistant Professor anywhere in India. For SET held from 1st June 2002 on-wards, the qualified candidates are eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Professor only in the state from where they have cleared their SET.
Note: There is no upper age limit for appearing at the SET.
Examination Fees:
Rs. 300/- for SC/ ST/ PWD Candidates
Rs. 600/- for Other Backward Classes (Noncreamy layer)/EWS
Rs. 1200/- for All other candidates
