Special Recruitment Drive for SC/ST 

Goa Shipyard Limited is one of the leading shipyards along the Western Coast, and a Schedule ‘B’ Mini Ratna Category I Company under Ministry of Defense. It is running under the supervision of Ministry of Defense, Govt. of India. The Goa Shipyard Limited is presently functioning as ship designing and builders of special purpose advanced ships for the Indian Coast Guard and the Indian Navy.

With the present initiative from Goa Shipyard Limited, a notice has been served for conduction of a Special Recruitment Drive for SC/ST as Management Trainee, Skilled Artisans and Unskilled posts.

The details of the vacancies and the criteria for eligibility to participate in this recruitment process are detailed as under:

Important Dates:

Name of the Job Positions and Numbers of vacancies:         

  • Management Trainee (Finance): 01 Posts (SC)
  • Structural Fitter: 06 Posts (ST)
  • Diploma Trainee (Mechanical Engineering): 01 Post (ST)
  • Refrigerator & A/C Mechanic (on fixed term contract for 3 years): 01 Post (ST)
  • Pipe Fitter (on fixed term contract for 3 years): 01 Post (ST)
  • Marine Fitter (on fixed term contract for 3 years): 01 Post (ST)
  • Unskilled Grade (on fixed term contract for 3 years): 02 Posts (ST)

Emoluments/ Stipend & Pay Provisions:

  • Management Trainee (Finance): The selected candidates will be placed in the pay scale of E-1 in the range of Rs.16400-3%-Rs.40500
  • Structural Fitter: The selected candidates will be placed in the pay scale of W-3 in the Basic Pay of Rs.6000 per month in the 1st Year, Basic Pay of Rs.6180 per month in the 2nd Year and Basic Pay of Rs.6370 per month in the 3rd Year. This will be in the pay scale of Rs.6000-3%-Rs.16950 (W-3).
  • Diploma Trainee (Mechanical Engineering): The selected candidates will be paid a stipend in the Basic Pay of Rs.8000 per month in the 1st Year, Basic Pay of Rs.8500 per month in the 2nd Year. This will be in the pay scale of Rs.6600-3%-Rs.22200 as Technical Assistant Gr. II (Mechanical) in (W-6).
  • Refrigerator & A/C Mechanic: The selected candidates will be placed in the pay scale of W-3 in the Basic Pay of Rs.6000 per month in the 1st Year, Basic Pay of Rs.6180 per month in the 2nd Year and Basic Pay of Rs.6370 per month in the 3rd Year. This will be in the pay scale of Rs.6000-3%-Rs.16950 (W-3).
  • Pipe Fitter: The selected candidates will be placed in the pay scale of W-3 in the Basic Pay of Rs.6000 per month in the 1st Year, Basic Pay of Rs.6180 per month in the 2nd Year and Basic Pay of Rs.6370 per month in the 3rd Year. This will be in the pay scale of Rs.6000-3%-Rs.16950 (W-3).
  • Marine Fitter: The selected candidates will be placed in the pay scale of W-3 in the Basic Pay of Rs.6000 per month in the 1st Year, Basic Pay of Rs.6180 per month in the 2nd Year and Basic Pay of Rs.6370 per month in the 3rd Year. This will be in the pay scale of Rs.6000-3%-Rs.16950 (W-3).
  • Unskilled Grade: The selected candidates will be placed in the pay scale of RW-1 in the Basic Pay of Rs.4030 per month in the 1st Year, Basic Pay of Rs.4150 per month in the 2nd Year and Basic Pay of Rs.4270 per month in the 3rd Year. This will be in the pay scale of Rs.4030-3%-Rs.8430 (RW-1).
  • In addition, they will be entitled to draw Other Allowance, Performance Related Pay, Medical Reimbursement and others as admissible in the same Grade from Goa Shipyards Limited.

Academic Eligibility:

  • Management Trainee (Finance): The candidates must have completed Graduation and should be a qualified Chartered Accountant from Institute of Cost Accountant of India.
  • Structural Fitter: The candidates must have completed ITI in Fitter/ Fitter General and NCTVT In the trade of Structural Fitter/ Sheet Metal Worker or ITI in the trade of Structural Fitter with 02 years experience in line or 02 years training in the respective trade in GSL. Preference will be given to those candidates who have under gone NCTVT from Shipyards like Mazagon Dock Limited, Cochin Shipyard Limited, and Goa Shipyard Limited etc.
  • Diploma Trainee (Mechanical Engineering): The candidates must have completed 03-Years full time Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. Ability to work on Auto CAD and 02 years experience in the line is desired for these posts.
  • Refrigerator & A/C Mechanic: The candidates must have completed ITI or NCTVT in the trade of Refrigeration and AC Mechanic with 02 years experience in line or 02 years training in the respective trade in GSL. Preference will be given to those candidates with a license authorizing him to handle refrigerators/ AC installation, repairs, maintenance and commissioning as used in ships and off shores in a reputed shipbuilding industry or equivalent.
  • Pipe Fitter: The candidates must have completed ITI or NCTVT in the trade of Fitter/ Pipe Fitter with 02 years experience in line or 02 years training in the respective trade in GSL.
  • Marine Fitter: The candidates must have completed ITI or NCTVT in the trade of Marine Fitter/ General Fitter with 02 years experience in line or 02 years training in the respective trade in GSL.
  • Unskilled Grade: The candidates must have completed SSC with 01 year experience in the line. Preference will be given to candidates having completed ITI.

Age Requirement:

  • The candidate must not have attained the upper age limit of 33 years (including relaxation for SC/ST) as on 31-July-2014.
  • Permanent Internal candidates / Fixed Term Employees may get additional relaxation as per the rules of the Company.

Mode of Selection:

  • Eligible candidates will have to appear a Written Examination, and Personal Interview as per the discretion of GSL.
  • All candidates have to secure minimum qualifying marks in respective rounds and in aggregate.
  • The candidates may have to face a Pre-Recruitment Medical Test prior to final joining.
  • The candidates will be selected finally on a merit listing.

Training:

  • All candidates have to undergo training in a fixed stipend as determined by the GSL. After completion of the training, the candidates may be permanently inducted in the respective grades depending upon the availability of vacancies and performance of the candidates.

Security Deposit:

  • The selected candidates for Management Trainee will be required to pay to the Company a Security Deposit of 20% their Basic pay and DA (as applicable at the time of joining) for two years which will be deducted from the monthly pay and will be refunded on completion of 03 years of service (including the training period) with normal bank interest.
  • This deposit will be forfeited if the trainee leaves the company before completion of three years. Forfeiture can be waived at the discretion of Chairman & Managing Director.
