AFCAT 02/2016: Air Force Recruitment 2016 For Flying, Technical and Ground Duties

AIR FORCE COMMON ADMISSION TEST (AFCAT) – 02/ 2016– With the recent initiative Indian Air Force invites enterprising and adventurous male and female personnel for recruitment into its Commissioned ranks in the Flying, Technical & Ground Duty cadres. The selected candidates will grant of Short Service Commission in Flying Branch and Permanent / Short Service Commission in Technical and Ground Duty Branches. The details of the recruitment in to the courses commencing from January-2017 are as follows:

Course Commencement Period: July 2017

Courses:
Flying Branch: No. 202/17F/SSC/M & W ( Short Service Commission for men and women)
Technical Branch: No.  201/17T/PC/M (Permanent Commission for men), and No.  201/17T/SSC/M & W (Short Service Commission for men & women)
Ground Duty Branch: No.  201/17G/PC/M (Permanent Commission for men), and 201/17G/SSC/M & W (Short Service Commission for men and women)

Note: SSC Officers of 45 SSC (Women) Course in Accounts and Education Branches may be considered for grant of Permanent Commission based on vacancies, service requirements, suitability, merit and willingness.

Pay Packages and Other benefits: As a service person of one of the most glorious profiles of jobs in India, selected candidates will be entitled to receive various advantages along with the pay package.

  1. Flying Officers: Pay band of Rs.15600 – Rs.39100 (An approximate monthly salary would be around Rs.82050/- including the TA/DA and other benefits/allowances)
  2. Technical Branch: The gross average monthly Income will be around Rs.71550/-
  3. Ground Duties: The expected Gross average monthly income will be Rs.68550/-

Benefits: There will be additional benefits in terms of Accommodation, Annual Leave, Leave benefits, Concessional Travel, Canteen facilities, CSD facilities etc.

Training: The training for all the courses will commence from the First week of July 2017. For Flying Officers and Technical Officers, the training will be of 74 weeks duration and that for the Ground Duties Officers will be of 52 weeks duration. Training is a mandatory part of the courses and has to be successfully completed in order to receive the Commission. The training will be conducted exclusively at the Air Force Training Establishments.

Norms of Eligibility:

1.        Flying Branch:

a)   Age: The candidate must be within 20-24 years of age as on 01-July-2017

b)   Educational Standards: The candidate must be a Graduate in any discipline minimum of 60% of marks in aggregate. The aspirant must have passed Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level. A candidate, who has completed a 4 years of BTech Degree and has secured at least 60% of marks in aggregate, is also eligible for the courses.

c)   Physical Standards: As per the service rules (please refer to Indian Air Force Website at careerairforce.nic.in.

d)   PABT: The candidates who have failed to qualify for PABT in an earlier attempt or, a flying candidate who has been suspended from flying at an Air Force Academy will not be eligible for applying for the Flying branch.

2.        Technical Branch:

a)   Age: The candidate must be within 20-26 years of age as on 01-July-2017

b)   Educational Standards:

Aeronautical Engineer – Electronics – (AE-L) – The aspiring candidate must be a 4 years Degree holder/ have cleared both Paper-A and Paper-B of AMIE/ Aeronautical Society of India/ Graduate Membership Examination of Institute of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineers (IETE) by actual study.

The candidate must have secured 60% marks in aggregate and must have studied at least 8 subjects out of 18 as specified on the website of Indian Air Force recruitment.

Aeronautical Engineer – Mechanical – (AE-M) – The aspiring candidate must be a 4 years Degree holder/ have cleared both Paper-A and Paper-B of AMIE/ Aeronautical Society of India through actual study.

The candidate must have secured 60% marks in aggregate and must have studied at least 8 subjects out of 18 as specified on the website of Indian Air Force recruitment.

c)   Physical Standards: As per the service rules (please refer to Indian Air Force Website at careerairforce.nic.in.

3.        Ground Duty Branches:

a)  Age: The candidate must be within 20-26 years of age as on 01-July-2017

Educational Standards:

Branch-wise educational determinants are as follows:

i)     Administration & Logistics: Minimum of 60% of marks in Graduation. The candidates having Post-Graduation or equivalent Diploma must have secured at least 50% in aggregate.

ii)   Accounts: The candidates must have secured minimum of 60% aggregate marks in Graduation in Commerce (B.Com) or must have secured minimum aggregate of 50% from M.Com/ CA/ ICWA.

iii)  Education: Post Graduate Degree in any discipline with minimum scoring of 50% in aggregate when marks obtained in all papers are put together.

b)   Physical Standards: As per the service rules (please refer to Indian Air Force Website at careerairforce.nic.in.

Selection Procedure: Candidates will be called for  called for Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) and Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT)  (applicable only for candidates applying for technical branch) to be conducted on 28 August 2016.  The AFCAT will be of two hours duration and will contain multiple choice questions on verbal ability, numerical ability, reasoning, general awareness and military aptitude. EKT would be for 45 minutes and conducted immediately after AFCAT.

Shortlisted Candidateson the basis of Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT/EKT) will be called for further testing at one of the Air Force Selection Boards (AFSBs) at Dehradun, Mysore, Gandhinagar, Varanasi or Kancharapara.

Stage- I Test including Intelligence Test and after that Stage – II testing including, Psychological Test, Group Test, and Interview conducted by Air Force Selection Boards (AFSBs).

Note: For Flying Branch candidates must appear for Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT) after Stage-II testing would be administered based on their choice of branch/eligibility.

  • The candidates awaiting results of their final year/ semester of examination are also eligible to apply if they have secured minimum of 60% marks in all the years / semesters so far and can produce the original/ provisional certificate on or before 15-December-2016.

Selection Procedure: Selection process will be based on the performance in AFCAT followed by Stage- I Test including Intelligence Test and after that Stage – II testing including, Psychological Test, Group Test, and Interview conducted by Air Force Selection Boards (AFSBs).
