Functioning with effect from February 06, 2012, The Medical Services Recruitment Board (MRB) under the Government of Tamil Nadu has been established with the objective of making direct appointments of various categories of staff in the Health and Family Welfare Department under the State Government of Tamil Nadu. With the present initiative from MRB, Tamil Nadu a notice has been served for induction of Assistant Surgeon in various specialties. There is an estimated vacancy of 1021 Assistant Surgeons in Tamil Nadu Medical Service.

Selection Procedure: Candidates will be selected on the basis of written examination.
Tamil Language Eligibility Test (10th Standard Level)- 50 Marks
Computer Based Test/ Written Examination- 100 Marks
Pay Scale: The selected candidates will be eligible for a pay Level-22 Rs. 56100-177500
Educational Qualification & Experience: The candidates must possess MBBS Degree or its equivalent qualification awarded by a University or Institution recognised by the University Grants Commission, approved by the Medical Council of India.
Apart from this, The applicant must have registered as a practitioner within the meaning of the Madras Medical Act.
Must have served as House Surgeon for a period of at least 12 months.
The applicant should have registered their name in the Tamil Nadu Medical Council on or before the last date of this Notification, and The applicant should poses adequate knowledge in Tamil.
Age Criteria: The applicant should not have crossed Maximum age limit of 37 years as on 01-July-2022. However, maximum Age specified for SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBC&DCs, BCs, BCMs candidates/ applicants is 59 years.
Application Fees:
Rs.1000/- for Unreserved Candidates
Rs.500/- for SC/ SCA/ ST/ Differently Abled candidates
The fees can be remitted through Online Payment (Net Banking, Credit card/Debit card) mode.
