With the recent initiative, The Indian Navy, is inviting applications for the course of Short Service Commission for Pilot/ Observer/ Air Traffic Controller under the Executive Branch of Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kerala, which is scheduled to be commenced from January-2019.

Academic Qualification: An applicant must have passed B.E./ B. Tech Degree in any discipline with minimum 60% marks.

Candidates in the final year of Engineering Course in any discipline from a recognised university/ educational institute with at least 60% marks till 5th/ 7th semester, in regular/ integrated course, can also apply.

For Air Traffic Controller ATC Entry, additionally the candidate must have 60% aggregate marks in class matriculation (10th) and intermediate (10+2) and minimum 60% marks in English in intermediate (10+2).

Gender Specification:
Observer, Air Traffic Controller: Both Male and Female candidates can apply.
Pilots: Only Male candidates can apply.

Age Requirements: The candidates applying for this executive branch must Born in between 02-January-1995 and 01-January-2000. However, for the candidates, who are applying for ATC must Born in between 02-January-1994 and 01-January-1998.

Important Dates:
Date of Commencement of Receipt of Online Application: 11-February-2018
End Date for Online Registration of competent Application Form: 04-March-2018

Physical Standards: The candidates must possess the minimum specified Physical standard in order to get qualified for the Executive Branch of Short Service Commission. There will be no relaxation in the base defined medical/physical standards.

Tenure of Maximum Service: The officers get entry into Short Service Commission will not be offered Permanent Commission and will be granted SSC for an initial period of 10 years. However, the selected candidates may serve the Indian Navy for a maximum period of 14 years from the date of joining. Candidates entering into service in Indian Navy will not be allowed extension after a maximum service length of 14 years, neither they will be considered for Permanent Commission.

Salary, Emoluments and Pay Structure: The Officers selected through the course will be eligible to receive a salary including basic pay, grade pay plus allowances and other remunerations as per norms. The Grade of Pay for Sub. Lieutenant will be LEVEL- 10 of Pay Matrix, Rs. 56100 – 110700/- and MSP Rs. 15500/-.

Selection Norms: The short-listed candidates will be directly called for the SSB interviews sometime in between MAY 2018 to JULY 2018 at Bangalore for pilot & observer. SSB interviews for ATC will be scheduled at Bangalore/ Bhopal/ Coimbatore/ Visakhapatnam.

The total duration of SSB interviews is five days consisting of stage I (Day one) and stage II (Four days). Stage I Tests; consist of Intelligence Tests, Picture Perception and Group Discussion Tests. Candidates who fail to qualify in Stage I will be sent back on the same day from SSB Centre. Stage II Tests consists of Psychological Tests, Group Task Tests and Interview.

Successful candidates will undergo medical examination (approx 3-5 days). Candidates of Pilot entry are required to undergo PABT (Pilot aptitude battery test) followed by Aviation medical examination. Candidates of Observer entry are also required to undergo Aviation medical examination.

Training: Candidates will be inducted as officers in the rank of Sub Lt. The training is tentatively scheduled to commence in end Dec 2018 at Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala.

Pilot Entry- Candidates will undergo 22 weeks of Naval Orientation Course (NOC) at INA, Ezhimala followed by Stage I and Stage II flying training at the Air Force/Naval Establishment. On successful completion of training, the candidates will be awarded wings. The candidates will be entitled for flying pay and allowances only after award of wings.

Observer Entry- Candidates will undergo 22 weeks of Naval orientation course (NOC) at INA, Ezhimala, Kerala. On completion of NOC the candidates will undergo SLT (X) Tech course followed by ab-initio training at Observer School. On successful completion of training at Observer School, the candidates will be awarded Observer wings. The candidates will be entitled for flying pay and allowances only after award of wings.

ATC Entry- Candidates will undergo 22 weeks of Naval Orientation Course at the INA, Ezhimala, Kerala followed by professional training at Air Force Academy and at various Naval Training Establishments/ Units/ Ships.
