English Language: Your Communication Window Into The Modern World
A language is basically a system of communication. It is a method of writing symbols or speaking words, to convey a meaning. It is the communicative medium used for expression of ideas, concepts, feelings, moods and attitude. Language is one of our intellectual traits as humans, something that distinguishes from other living creatures. Any language is learnt through the usage of it. More one hears, speaks and reads a language; the more one becomes good at it. Of the hundreds of human languages that are being used in different parts of the world, English is undoubtedly the most important and widely spoken language. Here are some reasons why English is currently reining all the other languages:

Today English is the language used in global trade. For all business transactions across countries, English is the medium of discourse. It has become a linking language for business people across the countries and across different parts of a same country like India, where there is rich lingual diversity.
In India, this language today is gaining precedence over all other languages. This has been due to our history and a natural evolution that followed its introduction to the country by the British. Today, it is one of the binding forces that unite the country on intellectual and emotional grounds in spite of its diversity. The Indian footstep on the globe is becoming wider everyday because of our proficiency in this language. Indian authors, directors, scientists, managers, doctors and engineers are recognised worldwide for contributing to their fields and the medium of contribution has mostly been in English.
Today, English is becoming the most desirable medium of instruction in schools and colleges. Most exams are conducted in this language and entrance test to higher studies demand proficiency in both written and spoken English. It has become a vital professional skill. Most jobs require spoken and written communication skills in English and your language skills contribute and raise the employability factor by a large amount. The Parliament of India recognises English as its official language in addition to Hindi.
The English language is an efficient tool to establish ourselves globally. It should not be viewed as a threat to our regional languages but a gateway into becoming bigger in the world, a means of spreading our heritage and spiritual treasure across the world. This language is the light we must use to enlighten ourselves as well as others across the boundaries of our nation.
