Hindustan Paper Corporation Limited is a Schedule-A Miniratna category-I company. It is known to have four manufacturing units and headquarters at Kolkata. The four mills are situated in Kerala, Nagaland and two in Assam. This company was established on 29th May, 1970 by government of India. It is engaged into the tasks of production of potential volume of newsprint and cultural paper in order to maintain stability of price. Along with that it was also loaded with the mission of growth in industry at North East region of India. HPC is also helping in development of large paper mills and newsprint. There are several companies that work under the direction of HPC those are Hindustan Newsprint Limited, Nagaland Pulp & Paper Company Limited, Cachar Paper Mill and Nagaon Paper Mill etc.
Till now HPC has been reported to have manufactured the paper and newsprint of about 3.35 Lakh tonnes. There are numerous posts that have been offered by HPC in areas like mechanical, electrical, instrumentation & electronics, chemical & pulp and paper technology, civil, information technology, environment, human resources, marketing, commercial & purchase, finance and forestry. These all areas offer direct employment to approximately 4300 persons whereas indirect employment to more than 35000 persons through transportation, forestry and material handling.
For posts related to technical fields a candidate is required to possess degree in B.Tech/ BE in mechanical, chemical engineering, instrumentation & electronics, pulp & paper technology, civil engineering, computer science & information technology and environmental engineering. Whereas non technical jobs such as marketing and finance require PG, MBA or equivalent degree in industrial relations, personnel management, human resources, material management and forestry management. In most of the cases age limit required for the eligible candidates is minimum 22 years and maximum 30 years for recruitment in HPC. Relaxations are offered to reserved categories depending upon the criteria defined by government.
In the first year of recruitment candidates are appointed as trainees and after completion of training they are promoted as permanent employees in higher grade posts. Besides the promotion pay scale is also increased depending upon the post offered to the candidate. It usually ranges from Rs. 16400 to Rs. 40500.
