Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board Announces National Eligibility Test -2012 For Lectureship
Agricultural Scientist Recruitment Board (ASRB) was established in order to support the Indian Council of Agricultural Research and other Agricultural Universities of the State in selection of competent personnel for the positions of Assistant Professors/ Junior Scientists/ Scientists as well as Lecturers for the research and development of Agricultural Science in India. This board is functioning tirelessly to fulfill its objective of supporting ICAR in finding the right personnel for various levels of operation in India.
With its recent announcement, ASRB is going to conduct the National Eligibility Test (NET) -2012 for selection of adequately competent workforce to join various Agricultural Universities of State and other repute as an Assistant Professor/ Lecturer in Agricultural disciplines.
The details of the NET-2012 are as follows:
Name of the Test: National Eligibility Test -2012
Important Dates:
- Last date for sending completed application form: 20th November 2012
- Last date for receipt of applications from far-flung areas: 4th December 2012
- Date of NET Examination: 20th of January 2013
Important Eligibility Conditions:
Academic Requirements:
- The candidates interested for the NET-2012 must have secured a Masters Degree in concerned branches of Agricultural Science on or before 1st of August 2012
- The detailed branches eligible for NET-2012 at described on the website of ICAR at icar.org.in and the website of ASRB at asrb.org.in
Age Requirement: The applicant must have attended the age of 21 years by 1st August 2012. However, there will be no upper age limit for appearing in NET-2012
Application Fees:
- For SC/ST/ PWD candidates: Rs.250
- For OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): Rs.500
- For General Candidates: Rs.1000
How to Pay the Application Fees:
- The fees can be paid through a Crossed Bank Draft only drawn in favor of The Secretary, ASRB and payable at New Delhi
- The Demand Draft must be attached with the application form
- The candidates must write their name and address on the reverse of the Demand Draft
- No other form of payment will be accepted by the Board
Number of Attempts:
Any competent candidate having requisite qualification standards can apply for a maximum of five (5) times for NET. However, the attempts taken by the client prior to NET-2012 will not be calculated.
Mode of Selection:
- The candidates appearing for the NET-2012 will be selected on the basis of their performance through a Written Examination followed by an Interview
- The minimum pass mark for General and OBC candidates is set at 60% where as that for the SC/ ST and OBC persons is maintained at 55%
- There will be 1/3 marks of negative marking for each wrong answer in the NET-2012
- For written examination the question papers will be available in either in English or in Hindi
How to Apply:
a) The candidates need to apply through the prescribed application form that can be downloaded from the website of ICAR at www.icar.org.in and the website of ASRB at www.asrb.org.in
b) The envelope containing application must be super-scribed with the advertisement number and the name of the post being applied for like mentioned below:
“Application for NET Examination – 2012”.

c) The application can be sent by post or by hand to the following address
d) Once submitted no request with regard to change of postal address will be entertained
e) The applications must be sent to the following address so as to reach before the final date of receipt of application (i.e. 20th November 2012)
