Indian Navy Recruitment 2013-14 For 157 Industrial & Non-Industrial Posts under Western Naval Command

Indian Navy is one of the most elite combat forces of the world with advanced technology and integrated warfare. The Western Naval Command (WNC) is the sword arm of the Indian Navy and naval operations conducted on the western seaboard would be central to the outcome of any conflict at sea against Pakistan. The western fleet is the two-star level operational formation of the Western Naval Command. It utilizes Mumbai and Karwar as its home ports, with its HQ in Mumbai. The fleet at the WNC is based under Flag Officer Maharashtra Area (FOMA) and provides naval defense in the sensitive north Arabian Sea adjacent to Pakistan. INS Kadamba, a large naval base, stationed at Karwar in Karnataka, is used exclusively by the Indian Navy.

With the recent initiative, The WNC is inviting applications for various newly sanctioned posts at its Naval units and formations based at Karwar. The details of the application procedure and eligibility criteria along with the selection modes operandi are mentioned underneath:

Mode of Application: The applications will be received through prescribed format of application only through the official website of Indian Navy at //nausena-bharti.nic.in  

(However the candidates are requested to submit only one application as multiple applications will subject to rejection of candidature)

  • Last Date for receipt of competent application form: 15 Days from the date of publication of Advertisement
  • Last Date for receipt of competent application form from far-flung areas: 21  Days from the date of publication of Advertisement

Non-Industrial Posts:

  1. Senior Engine Driver (Steam/ Motor): 07 Posts (SC-01, ST-01, OBC-01, UR-04)
  2. Engine Driver-I (Steam/ Motor): 12 Posts (OBC-03, UR-09)
  3. Engine Driver-II: 13 Posts (SC-01, ST-02, OBC-03, UR-07)
  4. Master Oil Tanker: 03 Posts (SC-01, OBC-01, UR-01)
  5. Master Grade-I: 06 Posts (SC-01, OBC-02, UR-03)
  6. Syrang of Lascar: 14 Posts (SC-02, ST-01, OBC-03, UR-08)
  7. Tindel of Lascar: 08 Posts (SC-01, OBC-01, UR-06)
  8. Lascar 1st Class (Boat Crew): 69 Posts (SC-11, ST-06, OBC-18, UR-34)
  9. Fireman: 20 Posts (SC-03, ST-01, OBC-03, UR-13)
  10. Greaser: 04 Posts (SC-01, OBC-01, UR-02)
  11. Topass: 01 Post (OBC)

Industrial Posts:

  1. Electrical Fitter/ SKL: 21 Posts (SC-03, ST-01, OBC-05, UR-12)
  2. Engine Fitter/ SKL: 10 Posts (SC-01, OBC-02, UR-07)

The applicant, who is a citizen of India, and unmarried (male) can apply for these positions.

Academic Qualification:

Non-Industrial Posts:

  • Senior Engine Driver (Steam/ Motor): An applicant must have completed Matriculation and should have Competency as Sea Going Engine Driver. Not less than 2 years service on a vessel not below a capacity of 700 BHP boat as in-charge.
  • Engine Driver-I (Steam/ Motor): An applicant must have completed Matriculation and should have Competency as 1st Class Engine Driver. Not less than 2 years service on a vessel not below a capacity of 225 BHP boat as in-charge.
  • Engine Driver-II: An applicant must have completed Matriculation and should have Competency as 2nd Class Engine Driver. Not less than 2 years service as a Syrang/ Tidal on a vessel not below a capacity of 400 BHP boat as in-charge.
  • Master Oil Tanker: An applicant must have completed Matriculation and should have Competency as Master with 1st Class ISV certificate. Not less than 2 years experience of independently handling boats of 30 nominal Horse Power.
  • Master Grade-I: An applicant must have completed Matriculation and should have Competency as Master with 1st Class ISV certificate. Not less than 2 years experience of independently handling boats of 30 nominal Horse Power.
  • Syrang of Lascar: An applicant must have completed Matriculation and should have Competency as Syrang with 1st Class ISV certificate. Not less than 2 years experience as Syrang-in-charge handling boats of 20 nominal Horse Power.
  • Tindel of Lascar: An applicant must have completed Matriculation and should have 3 years experience on a Ship/ Craft.
  • Lascar 1st Class (Boat Crew): An applicant must have completed Matriculation and should have 3 years experience on a Ship/ Craft.
  • Fireman: An applicant must have completed Matriculation and should have 3 years experience on a sea going vessel.
  • Greaser: An applicant must have completed Matriculation and should have 3 years experience on a sea going vessel.
  • Topass: An applicant must have completed Matriculation and should know swimming.

Industrial Posts:

  • Electrical Fitter/ SKL: An applicant must have completed Matriculation and should have completed Apprenticeship training on the trade OR, should have 2 years experience as a Mechanic in appropriate branch of Army, Navy and Air Force.
  • Engine Fitter/ SKL: An applicant must have completed Matriculation and should have completed Apprenticeship training on the trade OR, should have 2 years experience as a Mechanic in appropriate branch of Army, Navy and Air Force.

Age Requirements as on last date of Application:

  • For all Non-Industrial Posts:
    • The candidates applying must achieve the minimum age of 18 years and maximum age of 35 years (except for the Posts of Master Oil Tanker & Master Grade-I, where max age is 40 years)
  • For all Non-Industrial Posts:
    • The candidates applying must achieve the minimum age of 18 years and maximum age of 25 years

NOTE: Relaxation of upper age limit is applicable as per norms

Physical Standards:

  • The candidates must possess the minimum specified Physical standard in order to get qualified for the these services.
  • There will be no relaxation in the base defined medical/physical standards.

Salary, Emoluments and Pay Structure:

  • Senior Engine Driver (Steam/ Motor): Rs.9300 – Rs.34800 and grade Pay of Rs.4200 in PB-II
  • Engine Driver-I (Steam/ Motor): Rs.9300 – Rs.34800 and grade Pay of Rs.4200 in PB-II
  • Engine Driver-II: Rs.5200 – Rs.20200 and grade Pay of Rs.2400 in PB-I
  • Master Oil Tanker: Rs.9300 – Rs.34800 and grade Pay of Rs.4600 in PB-II
  • Master Grade-I: Rs.5200 – Rs.20200 and grade Pay of Rs.2800 in PB-I
  • Syrang of Lascar: Rs.5200 – Rs.20200 and grade Pay of Rs.2400 in PB-I
  • Tindel of Lascar: Rs.5200 – Rs.20200 and grade Pay of Rs.1900 in PB-I
  • Lascar 1st Class (Boat Crew): Rs.5200 – Rs.20200 and grade Pay of Rs.1800 in PB-I
  • Fireman: Rs.5200 – Rs.20200 and grade Pay of Rs.1800 in PB-I
  • Greaser: Rs.5200 – Rs.20200 and grade Pay of Rs.1800 in PB-I
