VSSC (Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre) is a well-known name in Indian Space Research and development of Rocket Propulsion Technology along with Indian Space Launch Vehicles. This organization is one of the most reputed divisions of the ISRO. The VSSC is operating with it’s headquarter at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The VSSC has been recognized as one of the most vital indigenous establishments of Rocket Science in India, with a success track record laded with many successful space launches.
With the recent announcement, the VSSC has announced a notification to fill up various vacancies of Technical Assistants, Scientific Assistants, Library Assistants, Trained Graduate Teachers, and Primary Teachers from multiple disciplines with its advertisement No. 284 on 11-Aug-2014.
The essential criteria for eligibility cited for the vacant positions of JRF are as follows:

Pay Scale and Allowances:
- For Primary Teacher: The candidates selected for these posts will receive a monthly remuneration in the scale of Rs.9300 – Rs.34800 and a Grade pay of Rs.4200 per month in PB-II. The approximate monthly remuneration with all admissible perks and allowances will be around Rs.29000 at present.
- For all other posts: The candidates selected for these posts will receive a monthly remuneration in the scale of Rs.9300 – Rs.34800 and a Grade pay of Rs.4600 per month in PB-II. The approximate monthly remuneration with all admissible perks and allowances will be around Rs.37000 at present.
- These candidates will also be eligible for other allowances as admissible to regular employees of VSSC.
Basic Academic Eligibility Conditions:
- For Technical Assistants: The candidates must have completed Diploma in appropriate branch of Engineering and should have passed in 1st Class.
- For Scientific Assistants: The candidates must have completed B.Sc. Degree in Chemistry with at least 1st Class.
- For Library Assistant-A: The candidates must have a 1st Class Graduation Degree with 1st Class Master’s Degree in Library Science/ Library & Information Science or equivalent.
- For Trained Graduate Teacher (Social Studies): The candidates must have completed Four years’ Integrated Degree Course of Regional College of Education on NCERT in the concerned subject with at least 50% marks in aggregate, OR, must have passed Bachelor’s Degree with at least 50% marks in any two of the following, i.e., in History, Geography, Economics and Political Science of which one must be either History or Geography. The applicant must have passed in the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), conducted by CBSE in accordance with the Guidelines framed by the NCTE and should have teaching experience in both English and Hindi Medium. Knowledge of Computer Application is desirable for these posts.
- For Trained Graduate Teacher (Hindi): The candidates must have completed Four years’ Integrated Degree Course of Regional College of Education on NCERT in the concerned subject with at least 50% marks in aggregate, OR, must have passed Bachelor’s Degree with at least 50% marks with Hindi as a Subject in all 3 years. The applicant must have passed in the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), conducted by CBSE in accordance with the Guidelines framed by the NCTE and should have teaching experience in both English and Hindi Medium. Knowledge of Computer Application is desirable for these posts.
- For Primary Teacher: The candidates must have completed Senior Secondary School Certificate with 50% marks or Intermediate with 50% marks or its equivalent. The applicant must have passed in the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), conducted by CBSE in accordance with the Guidelines framed by the NCTE and should have teaching experience in both English and Hindi Medium. Knowledge of Computer Application is desirable for these posts.
Age Factor:
- For all posts except Post No. 1250: Aspiring candidates should not attain a maximum age of 35 years as on 03-Sep-2014 (for General candidates).
- For Post No. 1250: Aspiring candidates should not attain a maximum age of 30 years as on 03-Sep-2014 (for General candidates).
- The upper age relaxation for OBC, SC/ST and PWD/ Ex-SM candidates will be entitled to respective candidates as per the regulations of the Government of India.
Mode of Selection:
- Based on the online application, initial screening will be conducted to short-list the candidates for Written Test/ Interview.
- The result of the test will be announced on the VSSC website.
- At present the place of posting is VSSC, Thiruvananthapuram, but the selected candidates are liable to be posted in any of the Units of the Indian Space Research Organization/ Department of Space situated anywhere in India as and when required.
- All these posts are temporary in nature but are likely to continue.
