Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) is the nodal entity in the state of Tamil Nadu offering dedicated employment support to the state government administration and other connected departments and organizations. This is working as per the guidelines of Union Public Service Commission (at the central level), while offering its support for the state.
With the present notification from TNPSC, it invites application through online mode for Direct Recruitment to various cadres included in Group-I cadre. The recent vacancies are notified for filling up of posts such as Deputy Collector, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Assistant Commissioner (CT) and Assistant Director of Rural Development Department.

Details of the Posts: Total 79 Positions
Deputy Collector: Post Code: 1001, Number of Vacancies: 03 posts
- Pay Scale: The candidates getting selected for the post will be eligible to receive remuneration in the scale of Rs.15600-Rs.39100 with Grade Pay of Rs.5400 in PB-III per month.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (Category – I): Post Code: 1002, Number of Vacancies: 33 posts
- Pay Scale: The candidates getting selected for the post will be eligible to receive remuneration in the scale of Rs.15600-Rs.39100 with Grade Pay of Rs.5400 in PB-III per month.
Assistant Commissioner (Commercial Tax): Post Code: 1003, Number of Vacancies: 33 posts
- Pay Scale: The candidates getting selected for the post will be eligible to receive remuneration in the scale of Rs.15600-Rs.39100 with Grade Pay of Rs.5400 in PB-III per month.
Assistant Director of Rural Development Department: Post Code: 1006, Number of Vacancies: 10 posts
- Pay Scale: The candidates getting selected for the post will be eligible to receive remuneration in the scale of Rs.15600-Rs.39100 with Grade Pay of Rs.5400 in PB-III per month.
NOTE: The 20% reservation of vacancies on preferential allotment to Persons Studied in Tamil Medium (PSTM) will apply to this recruitment.
Age limit:
- The candidates should have attained 21 years of age and should not have exceeded 30 years for General candidates as reckoned on 1-July-2013.
- For the Posts of Asst. Commissioner (Commercial Tax) candidates possessing Bachelors Degree in Law will be offered 1 year relaxation in upper age (max age 31 years)
- However, there will be relaxation in upper age limit for privileged categories (SC/ST/OBC/PWD) as per rules.
Educational Qualification as on date of publication of Application:
- The applicants must have passed a Degree of any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or any other Educational Institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.
- The candidates, who have written the final year degree examination, may also apply for the Preliminary Examination for direct recruitment to the posts included in Group-I Services, subject to the condition that they should produce proof of having passed the degree examination when admitted to the Main Written Examination, failing which they will not be admitted to the Main Written Examination
Note:

- For the DSP positions, the candidates should have minimum required physical fitness as detailed on the detailed advertisement.
- Candidates should possess adequate knowledge of Tamil on the date of this Notification
Scheme of examination:
- The selection will be made on the basis of Preliminary Written examination followed by Main Examination and Oral Test/ Interview
Examination Fee:
- For Preliminary Examination: Rs.125 (Examination Fee Rs.75 + Cost of Application Rs.50) for all candidates
- For Main Examination: Rs.125 for all candidates
- Those candidates who have already done one time registration by paying Rs.50 should be exempted from paying Application Fee
- Candidates can also resister for this procedure during this registration by payment of Rs.50 towards application fees, which will remain valid till 5 years
How to Pay the Application Fee:
There are two modes of fee payment –
- Through online payment by net banking, credit cards or debit cards
And,
- Through Post Office or Indian Bank by system generated Fee Payment Challan
Payment should be made within 2 working days from the date of registration.
Application procedure
- Candidates should apply only through online in the Commission’s Website at www.tnpsc.gov.in or in www.tnpscexams.net.
- A valid e-mail ID or Mobile Number is mandatory for registration and e-mail ID should be kept active till the declaration of results.
- Candidates can apply online by logging into the portal with the unique ID provided during registration.
- After submitting the application, candidates can print /save their application in PDF format.
- The Hall Tickets for eligible candidates will be made available in the Commission’s Website www.tnpsc.gov.in or www.tnpscexams.net for downloading by candidates.
- No Hall Tickets will be sent by post.
- The Online Application can be filled up to 28-Jan-2014 till 11.59 PM, after which the link will be disabled
