  • Before applying for the universities, students need to check the availability of courses and the deadline for applications. Then the individual universities are to be applied by sending in documents and other papers such as passport, transcripts of previous degrees, passport sized photographs, and other relevant documents as directed by the university in the online application form.

Visa requirements

For the purpose of studying in Kenya, students need to get the Kenyan visa by submitting the following documents

  • Passport with validity for at least 6 months
  • Application form filled up for the purpose of visa
  • Letter of acceptance from the respective university
  • One passport sized photograph
  • Medical examination report

Immediately after the students receive their approval letter from the said university, they can start their process of application, probably 3 months before the start of the course as it might take a bit longer on the part of the consulate.

The visa application can be sent directly or through the consulate to the Kenyan immigration department.

Cost of study and living in Kenya

  • Higher education in Kenya can cost the students something around 50,000 to 75,000 Kenyan Shilling. Undergraduate courses are a bit cheaper though, for a year.
  • Accommodation charges in Kenya are about 5000 KES for sharing apartment in a month while renting one can be 15000 KES. Inclusive of other costs, the students will need an additional expenditure of about 4000 – 5000 KES per month, which are usually apart from the accommodation facilities.
