Admission requirements

Most of the admissions that are done in the university level courses are judged on the basis of merit points or gradations that are done for all kinds of admissions in Iran. These points are from 0-20 scale. Bachelor degree admissions are on the basis of secondary school grade marks and also depend on the Konkur entrance examination. These courses are usually of 4-5 years, which the students need to get declared before passing out.

  • For masters’ courses, the students need to have a bachelor’s degree and a grade point of at least 14 from 20. These are usually of 2 years duration.
  • Continuous masters’ degree is provided for health related subjects such ad dentistry, medicine, veterinary and pharmacy, which the student needs to study for a long period of time.
  • Doctoral degree is allowed to the students who have passed the post graduate or masters courses and they should now enter into PhD courses. These degrees are usually of 3 years duration, but the students can take a maximum of 6 years.
  • Foreign students must hold a secondary level certificate with 62.5% as the minimum mark for admissions into bachelors’ courses.
  • Those students who are not having the necessary marks in the required degrees can go for extra classes.
  • Before studying in  course, people are required to meet the Iranian university counselor, who interacts with the students, helps in selection of institutions with the specific studies, but to do this, the counselors should be clear about the intended majors, personality, academic level, budget and personal profile of the students. Visa requirements

There is the need to apply for visa in order to study in Iran and this is applicable for all foreign students. When the counseling session is over and the students have finalized their courses and universities, they can apply for their visa in their own country by going to the nearest consulate ofIran.

  • The documents required to be applied are two completed visa application forms, a passport whose validity should be for about 6 months from the date of entry into Iran, two recent passport sized photographs, acceptance letter from the university, and then at the end there is conducted an interview with the consulate office.
  • In order to obtain visa, people can take the direct route by applying themselves or they can take the help of Iranian visa service, which is a bit quicker.
  • The first step is to obtain a letter of invitation from the sponsor in Iran, which in case of students can also be the educational institutions.
  • With the required documents, the visa application form is to be submitted at the said embassy.
  • The information of application is then sent to the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs inTehran. On being authorized, a visa authorization number is given to the applicant.

In order to get the visa stamped in the passport, a visa collection form is to be filled, where the visa authorization number is to be provided. Then, this form is to be sent to the embassy and is submitted along with the visa number and the passport, with 2 blank pages. Self arrangements are to be made to get back the passport.

Finally, on the receipt of the passport, the students are ready to go to the country to have their education in the institute applied.

Cost of study and living

  • Studying in Iran will take the students into private universities and to public universities, in which the case, the former universities charge tuition fee while the latter universities do not have any tuition fees. If the private universities are chosen, then the costs will be around 2000 dollars for every year, which can again vary from one university to another.
  • The cost of living inIrancities are variable also as it is dependent on the accommodations mostly and also on the lifestyle of the candidates. These expenditures might arrive into a total of more 2000 dollars in a month.
