SAIL Recruitment 2014 For Induction of Medical and Paramedical Staff

Ispat General Hospital (IGH), Rourkela a premier hospital of the eastern region equipped with 715 beds and is having state of the art equipments with wide-ranging facilities like CT scan, MRI, Neuro-Surgery, Neonatology, Nuclear Medicine, ICU, Burn Centre etc.

This hospital is having an excellent record of care and commitment for the people from far and near. With its facilities, this Hospital also provides ample of opportunities to the medical professionals for enhancing their knowledge, expertise and experience. The hospital has also been imparting postgraduate training (DNB) to medical professionals.

With the recent notification, the IGH under the direct administrative control of SAIL invites dynamic medical professionals to join its team as Consultants, Senior Medical Officers, Nursing (Sister) Trainee and Nursing (Brother) trainee.

The details of the criteria for eligibility and concerned process for selection are detailed as under:

  • Medical Executives: Total 11 Posts (UR-06, OBC-03, SC-01, ST-01)
    • Consultant (ME-4)/ Specialist (ME-3) (Cardiology): 01 Post
    • Consultant (ME-4)/ Specialist (ME-3) (Neurosurgery): 01 Post
    • Sr. Medical Officer (ME-2) (Radiology): 01 Post
    • Sr. Medical Officer (ME-2) (Orthopedics): 01 Post
    • Sr. Medical Officer (ME-2) (Pulmonary Medicine): 01 Post
    • Sr. Medical Officer (ME-2) (Gen. Surgery): 02 Posts
    • Sr. Medical Officer (ME-2) (Ophthalmology): 01 Post
    • Sr. Medical Officer (ME-2) (Dental): 01 Post
    • Sr. Medical Officer (ME-2) (Microbiology): 01 Post
    • Sr. Medical Officer (ME-2) (Biochemistry): 01 Post
    • Para-Medical Staff: 29 Posts (UR-14, OBC-04, SC-04, ST-07 out of which PWD-02)
      • Nursing Sister (Trainee): 21 Posts (UR-10, OBC-03, SC-03, ST-05)
      • Nursing Brother (Trainee): 08 Posts (UR-04, OBC-01, SC-01, ST-02)

Pay Scale Provisions:

  • Consultant (ME-4): The selected candidates will receive a Pay Scale of Rs.36600-Rs.62000 along with other allowances and perks.
  • Specialist (ME-3): The selected candidates will receive a Pay Scale of Rs.32900-Rs.58000 along with other allowances and perks.
  • Sr. Medical Officer (ME-2): The selected candidates will receive a Pay Scale of Rs.24900-Rs.50500 along with other allowances and perks.

NOTE: For all posts of Trainees against S3 grade (Non-Executives) selected candidates will be under Training for a period of 2 years.

  • The selected applicants in S3 grade will be eligible for a stipend of Rs.10700 per month in the first year of their training and Rs.12200 in the second year of their training. After successful completion they will be eligible to receive a scale pay in the S-3 Grade in the scale of Rs.9160 – Rs.13150.
  • Apart from the Basic pay the candidates will be eligible for DA, Company Accommodation, CCA, Incentive, Reimbursement of Local Traveling Expenses and other facilities such as medical for self and family, PF, Gratuity as per company rules.

Academic Requirements:

  • Consultant (ME-4) (Cardiology): The applicants must have MBBS with DM/DNB (super-specialty) in Cardiology.
  • Specialist (ME-3) (Cardiology): The applicants must have MBBS with DM/DNB and with at least 03 (three) years experience after MD/ DNB, as a Sr. Resident in the Department of Cardiology in a hospital / institute of repute.
  • Consultant (ME-4) (Neurosurgery): The applicants must have MBBS with M.Ch./ DNB (super-specialty in Neurosurgery).
  • Specialist (ME-3) (Neurosurgery): The applicants must have MBBS with MS/ DNB with 03 (three) years post qualification experience in Neurosurgery.
  • Sr. Medical Officer (ME-2) (Radiology): The applicants must have completed MD/DNB/PG Diploma in Radiology with at least 01 (one) year post qualification experience in Radiology.
  • Sr. Medical Officer (ME-2) (Orthopedics): The applicants must have completed MS/DNB in Orthopedics with at least 01(one) year post qualification experience in Orthopedics.
  • Sr. Medical Officer (ME-2) (Pulmonary Medicine): The applicants must have completed MD/DNB in relevant discipline with at least 01(one) year post qualification experience in Pulmonary Medicine.
  • Sr. Medical Officer (ME-2) (Gen. Surgery): The applicants must have completed MS/DNB in General Surgery with at least 01 (one) year post qualification experience in General Surgery.
  • Sr. Medical Officer (ME-2) (Ophthalmology): The applicants must have completed MD/MS/DNB in Ophthalmology with at least 01 (one) year post qualification experience in Ophthalmology.
  • Sr. Medical Officer (ME-2) (Dental): The applicants must have completed MDS with at least 01 (one) year post qualification experience.
  • Sr. Medical Officer (ME-2) (Microbiology): The applicants must have completed MD/DNB in Microbiology with at least 01 (one) year post qualification experience in Microbiology
  • Sr. Medical Officer (ME-2) (Biochemistry): The applicants must have completed MD/DNB in Biochemistry with at least 01 (one) year post qualification experience in Biochemistry.
  • Nursing (Trainee): The applicants should have B.Sc. (Nursing) after Intermediate (10+2) Science and with a valid registration in Nursing Council of India/ State Nursing Council. Should have at least 1 year post qualification experience in a Hospital/ Nursing Home. OR, the applicant should have completed Intermediate or 10+2 Science with Diploma of 03 (three) years duration in General Nursing and Midwifery and with a valid registration in Nursing Council of India/ State Nursing Council. Should have at least 1 year post qualification experience in a Hospital/ Nursing Home.

Age Criteria:

  • Consultant (ME-4): The upper age limit is 40 years as on 01-June-2014
  • Specialist (ME-3): The upper age limit is 38 years as on 01-June-2014
  • Sr. Medical Officer (ME-2): The upper age limit is 35 years as on 01-June-2014
  • Nursing Trainee: The upper age limit is 28 years as on 01-June-2014

Note: However, upper age will be relaxed for the SC, ST, OBC, PWD candidates as per rules

Application Fee:

For Consultant / Specialist / Sr. Medical Officers:

  • For SC/ ST/ PWD/ Departmental Candidates: Rs.100
  • For General and OBC: Rs.500

For Para-Medical Posts (Nursing Trainee):

  • For SC/ ST/ PWD/ Departmental Candidates: Rs.50
  • For General and OBC: Rs.250

The fee can be paid through Pay-in Slip downloaded from the website of SAIL at www.sail.co.in and remitted towards SBI Power Jyoti A/c No. 31955226331 maintained by at SBI RSP Campus Branch, Rourkela in the name of SAIL/ Rourkela Steel Plant

  • The candidates have to remit an extra Rs.30 towards processing fee to the SBI
  • There will be no other mode of payment of fees.

Training Period:

  • The applicants for Nursing Trainee selected for the jobs will be inducted in a Training Duration expanding over a minimum of 2 years. This may be further expanded if desired by SAIL.
  • After successful completion of the training period the candidates will be inducted as Nursing Sister/ Brother in the same scale of S-3 as per the posts

Mode of Selection:

The selection of candidates will be done through the following stages:

For Consultant / Specialist / Sr. Medical Officers: Only through Personal Interview and Final Medical Test

For Para-Medical Posts (Nursing Trainee):

  • Written Examination
  • Interview
  • Final Medical Test
