National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is an Indian PSU which looks after the development and maintenance of highways all across India. It is a big unit and seeks expertise of engineers and supervisors to look after the development of new national highways across the country. NHAI is responsible for the development, maintenance and management of National Highways entrusted to it and for matters connected or incidental thereto. The NHAI was operationalized in February, 1995 with the appointment of full time Chairman and other Members.
With its recent announcement, the NHAI is inviting competent candidature for filling up vacancies of 13 numbers of Chief General Manager (CGM) and 01 no. of Contract Management Specialist in the PB-IV grade under AISL (All India Service Liability). Candidates who are more than 56 years of age as on the last date for receipt of applications need not apply.

Pay Scale Provisions:
- The selected candidates will be placed in the pay scale of Rs.37400-Rs.67000 with a Grade Pay of Rs.10000 in the PB-IV.
- In addition, they will be entitled to draw DA, HRA, Conveyance Allowance, Medical Reimbursement and others as admissible in PB-IV as per norms.
Academic Eligibility:
- CGM (Technical): The applicants should have obtained Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering. They must have worked in an analogous post or the post next below for at least a period of 6 years. They must have at least 18 years of experience in working in a Group ‘A’ post out of which, 12 years experience should be in Highways/ Road/ Bridge Engineering.
- CGM (Standardization, Research, Development & Quality): The applicants should have obtained Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering. They must have worked in an analogous post of General Manager of NHAI or Superintending Engineer of MoRT&H on regular basis for a period of 3 years (at least). They must have at least 17 years of experience in working in a Group ‘A’ post out of which, 12 years experience should be in Highways/ Road/ Bridge Engineering of which minimum of 3 years experience in Standardisation/Research & Development/ Quality. Post Graduate Degree in Civil Engineering in a field related to Highways Engineering, Post Graduate Degree/ Diploma in Management or, Degree in Law is desirable for these posts.
- CGM (Safety): The applicants should have obtained Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering. They must have worked in an analogous post or the post next below for at least a period of 6 years. They must have at least 18 years of experience in working in a Group ‘A’ post out of which, 12 years experience should be in Highways/ Road/ Bridge Engineering of which a minimum of 3 years experience in Road Safety.
- CGM (Legal): The applicants should have obtained a Bachelors Degree in Law. They must have worked in an analogous post or the post next below for at least a period of 6 years. They must have at least 18 years of experience in working in a Group ‘A’ post out of which, 12 years experience should be in field of Law related to contractual matters / arbitration/ Legislative matters/ Land acquisition.
- CGM (Admn. & HR): The applicants should have obtained a Bachelors Degree in any discipline. They must have worked in an analogous post or the post next below for at least a period of 6 years. They must have at least 18 years of experience in working in a Group ‘A’ post out of which, 12 years experience should be in field of Administration/ Establishment/ Human Resource/ Personnel Management. Post Graduate Degree/ Diploma in Management with specialization in Human Resources/ Personnel Management & Industrial Relations Or a Degree of Law is desirable for these posts.
- Contract Management Specialist: The applicants should have obtained Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or Law or Management with Finance as a major subject. They must have worked in an analogous post or the post next below for at least a period of 6 years. They must have at least 18 years of experience in working in a Group ‘A’ post out of which, 12 years experience should be in field of contract management/ financial appraisal in infrastructure projects.
Age Requirement:
- The candidate must not have attained the upper age limit of 56 years as on 30-Jun-2014.
- Candidates who are more than 56 years of age as on the last date for receipt of applications need not apply.
- Those candidates who are due to retire from their parent cadre within two years, as on last date for receipt of applications also need not apply
Mode of Selection:
- The selection will be through a Search-cum-Selection and personal interview of shortlisted candidates based on performance.
- The selection will be done on a merit ranking basis.
