NEET-UG 2013:

Notification from MCI: for admission to MBBS Course across the country i.e. National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for MBBS Course (NEET-UG ) will be held from  2013 onwards.

Central Board of Secondary Education announced the notification for conducting National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for admission into MBBS & BDS courses in medical and dental colleges in India, which are approved by Medical Council of India.

As per the Notification in Gazette of India, MCI (Medical Council of India) with approval of Central Government has amended the regulations on Graduate Medical Education and made provision for a single Eligibility cum Entrance Examination, namely, National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to MBBS Course in each academic year. The Dental Council of India also amended its regulations for admission into various Dental Courses through this same entrance examination of NEET.

NEET UG stands for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Under-graduates. It is supposed to be the national level common entrance test meant for the admission in MBBS. It has been introduced top replace all the entrance exams of MBBS which are till now were organised by the different states and medical colleges. Moreover it will also replace AIPMT which is also a national entrance test for MBBS courses till now. Like other common entrance tests which have been introduced timely to replace other tests it is also introduced to save time and efforts. In past tests like JEE, IBPS-CWE and GATE were introduced to be held as common entrance tests for engineering, banking and post graduate studies in India.

Notification for NEET UG 2013 has been issued by CBSE which is officially going to conduct examinations on behalf of Dental Council of India and Medical Council of India. It has made life easy for the candidates who have to sit in different exams to qualify for MBBS and different medical colleges. Now they just need to give one exam and get admissions in any medical college based on the merit.

The NEET UG 2013 test will take place on 05th May, 2103 for admissions in MBBS and BDS courses.

Through NEET UG any candidate would be able to get admission opportunities in about 335 MCI recognised medical colleges. Moreover number of seats that NEET offers are sufficient and large enough i.e. 40485. You can get a detailed list of state wise colleges and seats offered by them on various websites on internet. In order to take a NEET exam candidate needs to conform to the given eligibility criteria like he is supposed to be citizen of India, he should be minimum 17 years of age at the time of examination and admission. There is a provision of maximum 3 attempts for any candidate to qualify in NEET. Age relaxation of maximum 5 years is offered to the candidates belonging to ST/ST/OBC category.

Regarding educational qualifications CBSE has made clear that the candidates who have obtained minimum 50% marks for general and 40% marks for SC/ST/OBC category in Higher Secondary Education will be considered as eligible to sit in exams. Candidate should have passed successfully with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology as subjects in 10+2 exams.

Pattern of the Entrance Examination:-

NEET 2013 will be held in single stage and would be an objective type test. The NEET Entrance Examination consists of one paper containing 180 objective type from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology) to be answered on the specially designed machine-gradablesheet using Ball Point Pen only. The duration of the paper would be 03 hours.

Admissions will be under the merit rankings of the eligible candidates through NEET exam of 2013, into various medical and dental colleges of the country.

Last date of submission of application fee along with the late fee is 10-02-2013. A candidate will be required to deposit an amount of Rs. 1000 as application fee for general category and Rs. 550 for other categories through various modes of payment available. A late fee will apply according to the rules of regulating body. Offline and online methods of payment are available for ease of candidates. For application filling process one needs to visit the official website of NEET i.e. www.cbsenet.nic.in. All the detailed guidelines and rules are depicted on official notification of the exam. It is advisable to visit this site regularly in order to keep yourself updated about the procedures.
