Central Board of Secondary Education announced the notification for conducting National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for admission into MBBS & BDS courses in medical and dental colleges in India, which are approved by Medical Council of India.
As per the Notification in Gazette of India, MCI (Medical Council of India) with approval of Central Government has amended the regulations on Graduate Medical Education and made provision for a single Eligibility cum Entrance Examination, namely, National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to MBBS Course in each academic year.
The Dental Council of India also amended its regulations for admission into various Dental Courses through this same entrance examination of NEET.
Both the councils (Medical and Dental) have entrusted Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to conduct this single entrance examination (NEET) of behalf of the councils.
With this amendment, CBSE has taken prompt initiative and have devised this entrance examination to be conducted on 5th May 2013 for selection of candidates in MBBS and BDS courses for the year 2013.
Admissions will be under the merit rankings of the eligible candidates through NEET exam of 2013, into various medical and dental colleges of the country.
Details of syllabus for the exam is provided by Medical Council of India on its website www.mciindia.org. The Admission and other relevant details of the NEET-2013 will be available in due course.
