National Seeds Corporation Limited was incorporated in 1963 in order to undertake the production of certified seeds and foundation. It is a schedule B Miniratna- I category company. NSC is wholly owned by the government of India and works under the administrative control of ministry of agriculture.
NSC is involved in production and marketing of quality seeds, planting materials and sale of Bio-Fertilizer through its 10 Regional Offices, 5 Farms and 77 Area offices spread all over India.

NSC produces more than 1.5 lakh tones of certified/quality seeds per year covering 600 varieties of 60 crops and Hybrids of cereals, millets, pulses, oilseeds, fodder fibre and vegetable.
Company pays emphasis on production of seeds of pulses, oils and hybrids that include vegetables. It believes in establishing strict rules in order to control quality and supply quality seed to farmers for agriculture. NSC is well equipped in manufacturing of quality seeds with help of five plants and quality control laboratories at Pune, Kolkata, Bhopal, Secundrabad and Delhi. Apart from producing certified seeds NSC is also associated with production of tissue culture plants such as banana and supply of seed saplings of fruit crops through MOU partners.
