Mazagon Dock Limited Recruitment 2014 For 1835 Skilled and Semi-Skilled Technical/ Operatives

As a premier shipyard of India, Mazagon Dock Limited (MDL) is delivering its services for construction of warships as well as offshore platforms for the requirement of the nation. Main activities of MDL are ship building, ship repairs and fabrication of offshore structures. The MDL has its facilities situated at Mumbai and Nhava. With a construction capability up to 30,000 DWT to build warships, submarines, merchant ships and fabrication of well-head platforms, process and production platforms and jack-up rigs, MDL has proven its abilities as a premier shipyard in India. For outfitting work, the company has a large number of workshops with sophisticated equipments and machines specific to hull-fabrication and ship construction work.

With the present initiative from Mazagon Dock Limited, a notice has been served for induction of Skilled and Semi-Skilled technicians and operatives in various disciplines under a contractual recruitment for 2 years.

The details of the vacancies and the criteria for eligibility to participate in this recruitment rally are detailed as under:

Mode of Recruitment: Contractual only for a maximum period of 2 years from the date of joining

  • Master 2nd Class: 01 Post (UR)

  • Jr. Draughtsman: 19 posts (UR-12, OBC-05, SC-01, ST-01)
  • Jr. Planner Estimator (Mechanical): 12 posts (UR-08, OBC-02, SC-01, ST-01)
  • Jr. Planner Estimator (Electrical/ Electronics): 10 posts (UR-07, OBC-02, SC-01)
  • Jr. QC Inspector (Mechanical): 17 posts (UR-11, OBC-04, SC-01, ST-01)
  • Jr. QC Inspector (Electrical): 03 posts (UR)
  • Store Keeper: 10 posts (UR-07, OBC-02, SC-01)
  • Fitter: 281 posts (UR-153, OBC-75, SC-28, ST-25)
  • Structural Fabricator: 260 posts (UR-142, OBC-70, SC-25, ST-23)
  • Pipe Fitter: 292 posts (UR-159, OBC-78, SC-29, ST-26)
  • Electronic Mechanic: 55 posts (UR-32, OBC-14, SC-05, ST-04)
  • Electrician: 198 posts (UR-108, OBC-53, SC-19, ST-18)
  • Electric Crane Operator: 04 posts (UR-03, OBC-01)
  • Painter: 59 posts (UR-34, OBC-15, SC-05, ST-05)
  • Carpenter: 42 posts (UR-24, OBC-11, SC-04, ST-03)
  • Comp. Welder: 174 posts (UR-96, OBC-46, SC-17, ST-15)
  • Rigger: 128 posts (UR-71, OBC-34, SC-12, ST-11)
  • Machinist: 14 posts (UR-09, OBC-03, SC-01, ST-01)
  • Compressor Attendant: 03 posts (UR)
  • Diesel Crane Operator: 01 post (UR)

Semi-Skilled Grade-III (IDA-4A):

  • Security Sepoy (Ex-Servicemen): 21 posts (UR-13, OBC-05, SC-02, ST-01)

Semi-Skilled Grade-I (IDA-2):

  • Utility Hand: 127 posts (UR-70, OBC-34, SC-12, ST-11)
  • Chipper Grinder: 104 posts (UR-57, OBC-28, SC-10, ST-09)

Educational Qualification & Experience:

  • Master 2nd Class: The applicant must have passed 2nd Class Masters Certificate of Competency from Maharashtra Maritime Board/ Mercantile Marine Dept (with Knowledge of Swimming). Must have at least 3 years of experience in operating Tugs from 226 to 565 BHP or equivalent.
  • Jr. Draughtsman: The applicant must have passed SSC with National Apprenticeship Certificate Examination in the trade of Draughtsman in Mechanical Stream.
  • Jr. Planner Estimator (Mechanical): The applicant must have passed SSC / HSC with full time 3 years Diploma (with aggregate 55% marks) or Degree in Mechanical/ Mechanical & Industrial Engg./ Mechanical & Production Engg./ Production Engg./ Marine Engineering.
  • Jr. Planner Estimator (Electrical/ Electronics): The applicant must have passed SSC / HSC with full time 3 years Diploma (with aggregate 55% marks) or Degree in Electrical / Power Engineering / Electrical & Electronics/ Electrical & Instrumentation/ Electronics/ Electronics & Communication / Allied Electronics & Instrumentation/ Electronics & Telecommunication/ Marine Engineering.
  • Jr. QC Inspector (Mechanical): The applicant must have passed SSC / HSC with full time 3 years Diploma (with aggregate 55% marks) or Degree in Mechanical/ Mechanical & Industrial Engg./ Mechanical & Production Engg./ Production Engg./ Marine Engineering.
  • Jr. QC Inspector (Electrical): The applicant must have passed SSC / HSC with full time 3 years Diploma (with aggregate 55% marks) or Degree in Electrical / Power Engineering / Electrical & Electronics/ Electrical & Instrumentation/ Electronics/ Electronics & Communication / Allied Electronics & Instrumentation/ Electronics & Telecommunication/ Marine Engineering.
  • Store Keeper: The applicant must have passed SSC / HSC with full time 3 years Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Electronics & Telecommunication, Instrumentation, Computer engineering. Candidates having additional qualification in Material Management & Knowledge of Computer will be Preferred.
  • Fitter: The applicant must have passed SSC with National Apprenticeship Certificate Examination in the trade of Fitter.
  • Electronic Mechanic: The applicant must have passed SSC with National Apprenticeship Certificate Examination in the trade of Electronic Mechanic
  • Electrician: The applicant must have passed SSC with National Apprenticeship Certificate Examination in the trade of Electrician
  • Electric Crane Operator: The applicant must have passed SSC with National Apprenticeship Certificate Examination in the trade of Electrician and must have at least 1 year experience in MDL or any shipbuilding organization.
  • Painter: The applicant must have passed 8th Standard with National Apprenticeship Certificate Examination in the trade of Painter.
  • Carpenter: The applicant must have passed 8th Standard with National Apprenticeship Certificate Examination in the trade of Carpenter.
  • Comp. Welder: The applicant must have passed 8th Standard with National Apprenticeship Certificate Examination in the trade of Welder/ Welder (G&E).
  • Rigger: The applicant must have passed 8th Standard with National Apprenticeship Certificate Examination in the trade of Rigger.
  • Machinist: The applicant must have passed SSC Standard with National Apprenticeship Certificate Examination in the trade of Machinist.
  • Compressor Attendant: The applicant must have passed SSC & NAC in Millwright Mechanic or Mechanic Machine Tool Maintenance and should have worked in MDL/ Shipbuilding Industry as a Compressor Attendant for minimum one year.
  • Utility Hand: The applicant must have passed SSC Standard with National Apprenticeship Certificate Examination in any trade and with at least 1 year experience in MDL or any shipbuilding industry as Utility Hand.
  • Structural Fabricator: The applicant must have passed SSC with National Apprenticeship Certificate Examination in the trade of Structural Fitter / Fabricator.
  • Pipe Fitter: The applicant must have passed SSC along with National Apprenticeship Certificate Examination in the trade of Pipe Fitter/ Plumber (with 1 year of experience in ship-building work).
  • Diesel Crane Operator: The applicant must have passed SSC Standard with National Apprenticeship Certificate Examination in the trade of Diesel Mechanic. Must have a valid Heavy Vehicle Driving License and at least 1 year experience in MDL or any shipbuilding industry.
  • Security Sepoy (Ex-Servicemen): The applicant must be an Ex-Serviceman with 15 years of service and must have passed SSC Standard or equivalent. Candidates having experience in Security Duties and holding valid commercial driving license will be preferred.

Age Criteria:

  • The applicants should have attended minimum 18 years of age and should not exceed maximum age of 33 years as on 1-June-2014.
  • Upper age limit is relaxable as per norms for SC, ST, OBC and Ex-SM candidates.

Period of Engagement:

  • The candidates selected for these positions will join the MDL for a contract period of 2 years from the date of their joining.

Pay Scale:

The selected candidates will be allowed pay as per the criteria for Mazagon Dock Limited

  • Special Gr (IDA-8): Basic Pay of Rs.9500 per month in the IDA Pay Scale in the first year and Rs.9595 in the second year.
  • Skilled Gr-I (IDA-5): Basic pay of Rs.7500 per month in the IDA Pay Scale in the first year and Rs.7575 in the second year.
  • Semi Skilled Gr-III (IDA-4A): Basic pay of Rs.7250 per month in the IDA Pay Scale in the first year and Rs.7323 in the second year.
  • Semi Skilled Gr-I (IDA-2): Basic pay of Rs.6000 per month in the IDA Pay Scale in the first year and Rs.6060 in the second year.
  • Other allowances and perks will be applicable as per the rules of MDL.

Application Fees:

  • SC, ST, and Ex-Servicemen candidates are exempted from paying any fees
  • For all others: Rs. 100 only
  • The fees can be remitted through Demand Draft in favor of “Mazagon Dock Limited” payable in Mumbai
