The Government of India as per its new Educational Policy confers Right of Child for Compulsory and Free Primary Education. In this respect the GoI has put down norms for maintaining uniform standards of teaching in the country. The candidates, who will be joining as teachers, should possess minimum academic qualifications and must obtain required qualification through a comprehensive eligibility test specifically conducted for the purpose of obtaining eligibility for appointment as teachers. Accordingly NCTE (national Council for Teacher Education), New Delhi has laid down norms for Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for each state.
In line with this decision from the NCTE, each State conducts their specific State Teacher Eligibility Test (TET). The Maharashtra State Council of Examinations, Pune has been entrusted to act as the Nodal Agency and conduct TET for ensuring selection of competent candidates for Teaching Jobs in schools at two basic standards of education (i.e. Class-I to Class-V and Class-VI to Class-VIII).
The details of the criteria for the Application for MahaTET-2013 are as follows:
Important Dates:
- Date of publication of advertisement: 17-Oct-2013
- Starting date for Submission of Online Application: 20-Oct-2013
- Final date for Submission of Online Application: 11-Nov-2013
- Last date for Receipt of Confirmation Page at District Education Office: 20-Oct till 15-Nov-2013
- Checking of Application status by the candidates: 20-Oct till 17-Nov-2013
- Availability of Admit Card: 26-Nov-2013 till 14-Dec-2013
- Date of examination: 15-December-2013
Structure of Examination:
There will be two papers of the TET.
- Paper I: For a person who intends to be a teacher for classes I to V
- Paper II: For a person who intends to be a teacher for classes VI to VIII
Note: Any person who intends to be a teacher either for classes I to V or for classes VI to VIII will have to appear in both papers (Paper I and Paper II).
Validity and Number Attempts Of Appearing The Examination:
- The Validity Period of TET qualifying certificate is seven years for all categories form the date of award of certificate.
- There will be no restriction on the number of attempts a person can take for acquiring a TET Certificate.
- A person who has qualified TET may also appear again for improving his/her score.
Academic Eligibility:
For would be Teachers of Class-I to Class-V:
- Candidates should have secured at least 50% marks in Higher Secondary Education along with 2 years DTED program / OR / Should have completed Higher Secondary education with 45% marks as per NCERT norms along with completion of 2 years Diploma in Elementary Education / OR / should have completed Higher Secondary education with at least 50% marks along with completion of 4 years course in Bachelor of Elementary Education / OR / should have completed any equivalent education.
For would be Teachers of Class-VI to Class-VIII:
- Candidates should have secured a University Degree along with 2 years Diploma in Elementary Education / OR / Should have completed Degree education with 45% marks along with completion of 1 year Bachelor of Education / OR / should have completed Higher Secondary education with at least 50% marks along with completion of 4 years course in Bachelor of Elementary Education / OR / should have completed Higher Secondary education with at least 50% marks along with completion of 4 years course in BA/BScEd Or, BAEd/ BScEd / OR / should have completed any equivalent education.
Age Limit:
- No upper age limit
Number of Attempts:
- Candidates are free to apply as many times as they want. No such restrictions imposed.
Application Fees:
- for Open, OBC, SBC and VJNT Category: Rs.500 (for any one paper) and Rs.800 (for both papers)
- for SC/ST/PH/VH Category: Rs.250 (for any one paper) and Rs.400 (for both papers)
The application fees can only be paid in shape of a Bank Challan, in any branch of State Bank of India, which can be downloaded from the website //mahatet.in/
Fee submitted through any other mode like Money Order, Demand Draft, IPO etc. will be summarily rejected.
How to Apply:
- The candidates who fulfill the eligibility Criteria are required to apply ONLINE through the website of the MAHATET at //mahatet.in/
- Before applying online, candidates are advised to go through detailed notification available at the above website at //mahatet.in/TETAPP/Intructions.aspx or at //mahatet.in/TETAPP/PublicHome.aspx
- The candidates need to fill all relevant columns and upload his photo and signature at appropriate spaces on Online Application
- Incomplete application forms will be rejected
- After completion of Online Application, the candidates need to take hardcopies of the Online Application and send that along with fee payment receipts and relevant certificates to the address of The Commissioner(MSCE), at the addresses mentioned below and should reach before the last date specified
- The Application Form and other documents should be enclosed in an envelope and should be super-scribed with the post applying for before sending.

Special Note:
