Directorate of Forensic Science Services has been functioning to formulate plans, policies, and legislations and promote as well as regulate quality, capacity, and capability building for forensic services in the state of Maharashtra. Acting under the supervision of Directorate of Forensic Science Services, Home Department of the Government of India, this Directorate of Forensic Science Laboratories, is acting promptly to facilitate high quality, on time and credible forensic services to the Homeland Security and Justice Delivery System of the state. This is also acting as a strong coordinator for National Forensic Information Grid (NAT-FORENS-GRID) including databases on various forensic indices to control recidivism and strengthening Homeland Security.
With its upcoming recruitment notification from the Directorate of Forensic Science Laboratories, Mumbai, a notification has been released for recruiting Scientific Officers and Scientific Assistants, purely on contract basis for a period of 1 year or till the posts are filled on regular basis, whichever is earlier.
The details of the job positions with the minimum basic eligibility criteria is detailed as under:
Scheduled Dates For Walk-In Interview:
- For Scientific Officers: 09-Jun-2014 (from 9.30 A.M. to 4.30 P.M.)
- For Scientific Assistants: 11-Jun-2014 (from 9.30 A.M. to 4.30 P.M.)

Name and Number of the vacancies:
- Scientific Officer (Group-B) [Cyber Crime, Tape Authentication & Speaker Identification]: 14 positions (SC-02, ST-01, Vimukta Jati (a)-01, Nomadic Tribe-01, OBC-02, Open-07)
- Scientific Assistant (Group-C) [Cyber Crime, Tape Authentication & Speaker Identification]: 05 positions (SC-01, ST-01, Open-03)
- The reservation rules will only be applicable for the original domiciles of Maharashtra state only
Pay Scale Provisions:
- Scientific Officer (Group-B): The selected candidates will be offered a consolidated remuneration of Rs.18000 per month till the end of contract period.
- Scientific Assistant (Group-C): The selected candidates will be offered a consolidated remuneration of Rs.15000 per month till the end of contract period.
Contract Period/ Conditions of Appointment:
- The contract period will be for the period of 1 year or till the posts are filled on regular basis, whichever is earlier from the date appointment and the contract will be automatically expired after that period without any notice.
- The selected candidates will be required to accept the appointment within 7 days, otherwise his name will be cancelled from the select list without any notice, considering that he is not interested for the particular appointment.
- The selected candidates are required to submit the affidavit on Rs.100 valued bond paper.
Age Requirement:
- Scientific Officer (Group-B): The applicants (Open category) must not exceed 35 years of age as on 01-Jun-2014 to become eligible.
- Scientific Assistant (Group-C): The applicants (Open category) must not exceed 33 years of age as on 01-Jun-2014 to become eligible.
- However there is a relaxation in the upper age for the persons who are domiciles of Maharashtra and belong to scheduled/ backward categories as per the state Govt. rules.
Educational Qualification:
- Scientific Officer (Group-B): The candidates interested for these posts must have completed At least 2nd Class P.G. Degree in Computers/ Electronics/ Physics/ Information Technology with Degree in relevant subject OR at least 2nd Class Engineering Degree in Information Technology/ Electronics/ Computers from recognized University.
- Scientific Assistant (Group-C): The candidates interested for these posts must have completed At least 2nd Class P.G. Degree in Computers/ Electronics/ Physics/ Information Technology with Degree in relevant subject OR at least 2nd Class Engineering Degree in Information Technology/ Electronics/ Computers from recognized University.
How to Apply:
- The candidates should reach the venue by the time specified (09:30 AM) on the scheduled date with their recent Biodata, Educational Qualification Certificates, Experience Certificates, caste certificates, photo ID cards, and other essential documents without fail.
- The candidates should bring more than 2 copies of their recent passport size photographs to be required at the time of Walk-In Interview.
- All original certificates must be with the candidates, who are appearing the interview.
- If the candidate has registered with any Government employment exchange, he is required to attach the attested copy of registration with application.
