Delhi University is responsible for carrying out the Medical Dental Entrance Test. This exam is commonly known as DUMET Exam, and is conducted with the aim to give admission to different students in it’s under graduate courses in medical fields like MBBS and BDS. This test has currently become very popular, and candidates across different parts of the country apply for this exam, because of the value of the medical courses from it.
The Eligibility Criteria:
Before applying for the test, it is essential to know the eligibility criteria necessary for the exam. The general candidates should pass 10+2 or any other equivalent examination with combination of subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. There should be aggregate marks of at least 50% in PCB. The aggregate marks for SC and ST candidates are 40%. Candidates who are appearing for final examinations in class 12 can also apply for DUMET Exam.
The Exact Procedure for Application:
The application form is available right at the University, and therefore, the candidates can get the application form directly from the university. Apart from that, the application form can also be obtained through post with a demand draft or a cheque of Rs 800 for general category and Rs 600 for the reserved category. If the candidates get the application form by hand, they would have to pay Rs 550 while you would have to pay Rs 600 by post.
The Pattern of Exam:
DUMET Exam follows a particular pattern of examination with two different sections. There will be an objective test with duration of 150 minutes. The first section, there would be questions on chemistry and physics, while in the second section there would be questions on Botany and Zoology. The candidates would have to pass both the sections in order to get an entrance into these medical courses. Moreover, before applying for the exam, you should be aware of the syllabus along with the pattern of the exam.
Declaration of the Results:
The results of the DUMET Exam are generally declared within few months of the exam conducted. The scores obtained by each candidate in the exam are valid for one year. Within this time period, the candidates would be able to apply in different centers offering these dental medical courses. However, the candidate can sit for the exam only from Delhi as the centre of examination is Delhi.
