With the recent announcement from the Kolkata Municipal Service Commission, there are a few vacancies notified for recruitment under the Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority.

Pay Scale:
- Publicity Assistant: The applicants selected for this position will be eligible to receive remuneration in the range of Rs.7100 – Rs.37600 with a Grade Pay of Rs.3900 in PB-III.
- Librarian: The applicants selected for this position will be eligible to receive remuneration in the range of Rs.7100 – Rs.37600 with a Grade Pay of Rs.4100 in PB-III.
- Surveyor: The applicants selected for this position will be eligible to receive remuneration in the range of Rs.7100 – Rs.37600 with a Grade Pay of Rs.3600 in PB-III.
- Assistant Planner (Socio-Economic)-Group-A: The applicants selected for this position will be eligible to receive remuneration in the range of Rs.9000 – Rs.40500 with a Grade Pay of Rs.5400 in PB-IV.
- Planning Assistant (Socio-Economic)-Group-B: The applicants selected for this position will be eligible to receive remuneration in the range of Rs.7100 – Rs.37600 with a Grade Pay of Rs.3900 in PB-III.
- Assistant Law Officer: The applicants selected for this position will be eligible to receive remuneration in the range of Rs.9000 – Rs.40500 with a Grade Pay of Rs.4400 in PB-IV.
Academics Requirement:
- Publicity Assistant: The applicants must have completed Graduation with thorough knowledge of current national / international affairs. They must have a flair for writing. Preference will be given to candidates having experience in Journalism and knowledge of producing journals, pamphlets etc.
- Librarian: The applicants must have completed Graduation with Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science.
- Surveyor: The applicants must have completed Madhyamik Parikshya with a pass Certificate of Senior Surveyorship Examination. Candidates having graduation with 2 (two) years course in Survey from the “Industrial Training Institute” can also apply for these posts.
- Assistant Planner (Socio-Economic)-Group-A: The applicants must have completed Master Degree in Economics/ Statistics/ Geography/ Social Science with 50% marks in aggregate and 2 (two) years Experience in the field of Socio Economic Planning. These candidates are desired to have thorough knowledge of Computers.
- Planning Assistant (Socio-Economic)-Group-B: The applicants must have completed Graduation with Honors in Economics/ Statistics/ Pol. Science/ Geography/ Sociology with 2 (two) years Experience in the field of Planning & Research. These candidates are desired to have thorough knowledge of Computers.
- Assistant Law Officer: The applicants must have completed Graduation in Law and must be enrolled as an Advocate. The candidates should have 3 years of experience as an Advocate in the Legal field. Must have been empanelled as an Advocate on behalf of any Government Department/ Government Undertaking/ Local Bodies/ Statutory Authority for at least 1 (one) year.
Age of the candidates:
- Assistant Law Officer: The applicants should have acquired minimum age of 27 years and should not have crossed maximum age of 35 years as on 01-Jan-2014.
- For all other posts: The applicants should have acquired minimum age of 18 years and should not have crossed maximum age of 40 years as on 01-Jan-2014.
- Appropriate relaxation in upper age limit will be applicable as per norms for SC/ST/OBC candidates.
Application Fees:
- For Unreserved & OBC-A/ OBC-B category: Rs.200 (Rs.150 as Application fee and Rs.50 as processing fee)
- For SC, ST from West Bengal & PWD: Rs.50 (as processing fee only)
- The application fee can be remitted through the Fee Deposit Challan as available with the website of Kolkata Municipal Service Commission at www.mscwb.org.
- The fee is to be deposited through any Branches of United Bank of India and should be deposited to Account No. – 0088050006798
- The fees/ charges should be deposited only after two working days of registration/ generation of Challan
- There will be a separate fee of Rs.20 for each transaction by the Bank (Bank charges)
- No other format of fee payment will be accepted
Mode of Selection:
- The commission will hold a Preliminary Screening Examination (Written Test) for short-listing the candidates for interview.
- The selection will be done strictly on a merit ranking order.

- Wrong or misleading information may subject to cancellation of application
- Application form must be complete in all respect
- Candidates must have a valid Mobile Number (e-mail ID is optional). The Commission may send information for downloading Admit Card for Written Test/Interview through the registered E-mail ID/Mobile Number.
- Canvassing in any form will result in disqualification
