Department of Posts is considered as lifeline of Indian Communication. This is also a major department under the Ministry of Communication in India.
With the recent announcement, the Karnataka Postal Circle is inviting competent applications for filling up the posts of Postman, Postal Assistant/ Shorting Assistant and Multitasking Staff (MTS) in various Postal divisions/ RMS offices under this Postal Circle. These posts are exclusively for Meritorious Sportspersons form various disciplines.
The details of the vacancies and the criteria for eligibility are as under:

Pay band:
- Postal/ Shorting Assistant: The candidates selected for the job positions will receive remunerations in the scale of PB-I (Rs.5200-Rs.20200 and a grade Pay of Rs.2400) along with other perks and remunerations.
- Postman: The candidates selected for the job positions will receive remunerations in the scale of PB-I (Rs.5200-Rs.20200 and a grade Pay of Rs.2000) along with other perks and remunerations.
- MTS: The candidates selected for the job positions will receive remunerations in the scale of PB-I (Rs.5200-Rs.20200 and a grade Pay of Rs.1800) along with other perks and remunerations.
Age Requirement:
- The candidates should be in the age group of 18-27 years (by last date for receipt of application form – 28-July-2014) to be eligible to apply.
- However, there will be relaxation in upper age limit for SC, ST and PWD candidates from Chhattisgarh State as per rules.
Minimum Educational Qualification:
- Postal/ Shorting Assistant: The candidates applying for the job position must have completed 10+2 (Higher Secondary) standard along with study in local medium (Kannada). He must have minimum sports qualification as detailed in the other section. Knowledge of Computer operation is desirable for these posts.
- Postman: The candidates applying for the job position must have completed Matriculation in local medium (Kannada). He must have minimum sports qualification as detailed in the other section.
- MTS: The candidates applying for the job position must have completed Matriculation in local medium (Kannada). He must have minimum sports qualification as detailed in the other section.
Sports Qualification:
The candidates applying for these posts must have:
- Represented the State/ Country in National/ International sports/ games events in the sports categories as mentioned above
- Represented the University in Inter-University sports/ games events in the sports categories as mentioned above
- Represented the State School Team in National level sports/ games events (as conducted by All India School Games Federation) in the sports categories as mentioned above
- And those, who have been awarded National Awards in Physical Efficiency under National Physical Efficiency Drive.
Probation Period:
- The candidates selected for the job positions will serve Karnataka Post for a minimum period as defined by rules.
Training:
- The selected candidates will have to undergo training as defined by Karnataka Post.
Application Fee:
- The candidates have to deposit Rs.100 in cash in any Post Office under Karnataka Circle and submit Original receipt along with application.
- Candidates residing outside Karnataka must submit the Application Fee through Indian Postal Order.
Examination Fee:
- The candidates who are called for selection/ field trials will have to deposit Rs.400 as Examination Fee separately.
- Women/ SC/ ST candidates are exempted from paying this fee.
Mode of Selection:
- The candidates who will be short-listed for this selection, will be finally selected on Merit with consideration of Educational and Sports Qualifications.

- The candidates are advised to fill in authentic details carefully during the Online submission of applications
- The applications should be enclosed in an envelope super scribed as “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF POSTAL/ SHORTING ASSISTANT/ POSTMAN/ MTS UNDER KARNATAKA POSTAL CIRCLE UNDER SPORTS QUOTA”.
- The candidates should enclose an envelope with Rs.40 postal stamp (Rs.17 for locally residing candidates) affixed on it along with the Application Form, Fee Deposit receipts and copies of certificates.
- Incomplete and late receipt of Application form will not be taken into consideration.
