Indian Navy University Entry Scheme (UES) Recruitment 2016 Commencing June 2017

With the recent notification from Indian Navy, the applications are being invited from young and enthusiastic candidates who are studying in final year (4th/ 5th year) in academic session 2014-15 in B.E./ B.Tech. courses and have obtained a minimum of 60% aggregate marks till pre final year (till Vth semester for B.E./ B.Tech. and VII Semester for 5 year integrated degree course). These candidates will be joining with Permanent Commission (PC) officers in Executive (GS) branch and Short Service Commission (SSC) officers in Executive and Technical Branches of the Indian Navy under University Entry Scheme (UES), for course commencing June 2017.

The details of the openings and the essential criteria for selection are detailed as under:

Date for determining Age: 01-July-2017
Commencement of Training: June-2017 (at Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala)

Number of vacancies: The exact numbers of vacancies will be determined by IHQ MoD (Navy)

Norms of Eligibility:
a)   Nationality: The applicant should be a citizen of India in order to be eligible for the post.

b)   Age: The candidate must have attained 21 years and should not have exceeded 24 years of age as on 01-July-2017. Candidates should born between 02-July-1993 to 01-July-1998 both dates inclusive (both these days are included for consideration).

c)   Educational Standards: Candidates studying in the in the final year (4th / 5th year) in an AICTE recognised university with one of the following disciplines and should have obtained a minimum of 60 % aggregate marks till Vth semester for B.E./ B.Tech. and VII Semester for 5 year integrated degree course).

Executive Branch:
General Service (X)- Only for Men for PC & SSC: Branches of (i) Mechanical (ii) Marine (iii) Aeronautical (iv) Production (v) Computer Science Engineering (vi) Information Technology (vii) Control (viii) Electrical (ix) Electronics (x) Telecommunication Engineering.

Pilot – Men and Women for SSC: Any branch of BE/ B.Tech (with Physics & Maths at 10+2 level).

Observer – Men and Women for SSC: Any branch of BE/ B.Tech (with Physics & Maths at 10+2 level).

IT – Only for Men for SSC: Branches of (i) Information Technology (ii) Computer Science Engineering (iii) Computer Engineering.

Technical Branch:
Engineering Branch- Only for Men for SSC: Branches of (i) Mechanical (ii) Marine (iii) Automobile (iv) Mechtronics (v) Instrumentation (vi) Production Engineering (vii) Metallurgy (viii) Aeronautical (ix) Aerospace Engineering (x) Automation & Robotics (xi) Industrial Engineering & Management.

Electrical Branch- Only for Men for SSC: Branches of (i) Electrical (ii) Electronics (iii) Tele Communications (iv) Electronics and Instrumentation (v) Electronics and Communication (vi) Power Engineering (vii) Control System Engineering (viii) Power Electronics (ix) Instrumentation and Control (x) Avionics.

Naval Architecture – Both for Men and Women for SSC: Branches of (i) Mechanical (ii) Civil (iii) Aeronautical (iv) Aero Space (v) Metallurgy (vi) Naval Architecture.

Submarine/ Technical Branch:
Engineering Branch- Only for Men for SSC: Branches of (i) Mechanical (ii) Marine (iii) Automobile (iv) Mechtronics (v) Instrumentation (vi) Production Engineering (vii) Metallurgy (viii) Aeronautical (ix) Aerospace Engineering (x) Automation & Robotics (xi) Industrial Engineering & Management.

Electrical Branch- Only for Men for SSC: Branches of (i) Electrical (ii) Electronics (iii) Control (iv) Tele Communications (v) Instrumentation (vi) Power Engineering (vii) Electronics & Communication (viii) Instrumentation and Control.

Important About Education:
Candidate must have minimum of 60% marks in overall aggregate on completion of BE/ B Tech. Candidates who have FAILED in PABT (Pilot Aptitude Battery Test) earlier are not eligible for the Pilot entry. Candidates are not eligible for UES entry if they have not studied Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics at Intermediate (10+2) level. Candidates having backlog in any semester at the time of SSB interview are not allowed to attend the SSB.

Physical Fitness Standard and Physical Efficiency:
As per service codes as detailed on the Indian Navy Website at www.nausena-bharti.nic.in for officer posts
Height: Minimum 157 cm
Weight: Corresponding to Height
Eye: 6/6 or 6/9 corrected to 6/6 with glasses. Should not have colour-blindness or squint vision
Tattoo: Permanent body tattoos are only permitted on inner face or forearms. Permanent body tattoos on any other part of the body are not acceptable and candidates will be barred from further selection.
There will be no relaxation in the base defined medical/physical standards.

Type of Commission:
The selected candidates will be appointed in the rank of Sub Lieutenant on the date decided by the Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence (Navy) [IHQ-MoD(N)].
The Officers will be on probation for a period of two years or till completion of their initial training (whichever is later), during which they are liable to be discharged if their performance is unsatisfactory.
During the period from date of appointment to reporting for training, the individual will be entitled to half the basic pay of the rank, which will be payable as a lump-sum as stipend at the time of joining INA, Ezhimala for training.
The terms of SSC will be for a period of 10 yrs, extendable by a further period of 04 years subject to service requirements and performance/ willingness of candidates.
Officer inducted under SSC scheme will not be given extension beyond 14 years and will not be eligible for permanent commission.
Candidates who fail to qualify at the final graduation (aggregate 60%) will be discharged from service without any benefits.

Training: The training is tentatively scheduled to commence in June 2017 at Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala. Engineering graduates finally selected for UES, will be inducted as Officers in the rank of Sub Lieutenant and undergo 22 weeks Naval Orientation Course at the INA, Ezhimala, followed by professional training in Naval Ships and Training Establishments. In case of Executive (General Service) entry, course duration of NOC at INA would be 44 weeks. The candidates will be awarded Permanent Commission/ Short Service Commission during joining of training

Note: Training is however liable to be terminated at any time trainee fails to achieve the required standards in academics, profession, physical fitness and discipline or is found to be medically unfit.

Selection Procedure: The selection will be based on the following testing of eligibility:

  1. Short listing of Candidature
  2. Service Selection Board (Interview/ Group Task/ Personality Test, etc.)
  3. Medical Board Examination
  4. Announcement of Merit List
