Coir Board is a statutory body established by the Government of India. This board has been formed for the promotion and development of Coir Industry in India as a whole. This board is also regulating the production of husks, coir yarn and coir products by registering coir spindles and looms for manufacturing coir products.
With the recent announcement, the Coir Board intends to recruit young professionals for various positions of Scientific Assistant (Engineering), Assistants, Junior Stenographers, Junior Auditors, LDC, Machine Operators and Hindi typist along with a few other posts.
The details of the vacancy and the eligibility criteria are mentioned underneath:

Details of the Post:
Scientific Assistant (Engineering): 01 Post (UR)
Pay Scale: The candidates getting selected for the post of Scientific Assistant will be eligible to receive remuneration in the scale of Rs.9300-Rs.34800 With Grade Pay Of Rs.4200 in PB-II
Age limit: The candidates must not exceed 30 years as reckoned on the last date for submission of application.
Academics: As on last date of application, the applicant must have First or Second Class Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering OR First or Second Class Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with 2 years experience in running or maintenance of textile processing or machinery or equipment.
Assistant: 05 Posts (UR-04, OBC-01)
Pay Scale: The candidates getting selected for the post of Assistant will be eligible to receive remuneration in the scale of Rs.9300-Rs.34800 With Grade Pay Of Rs.4200 in PB-II
Age limit: The candidates must not exceed 28 years as reckoned on the last date for submission of application. However, upper age limit will be relaxed for OBC and other categories as per rules.
Academics: As on last date of application, the applicant must have First or Second Class Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline.
Junior Stenographer: 07 Posts (UR out of which PH-01, Ex-SM-02)
Pay Scale: The candidates getting selected for the post of Junior Stenographers will be eligible to receive remuneration in the scale of Rs.5200-Rs.20200 With Grade Pay Of Rs.2400 in PB-I
Age limit: The candidates must not exceed 30 years as reckoned on the last date for submission of application. However, upper age limit will be relaxed for PH and other categories as per rules.
Academics: As on last date of application, the applicant must have SSLC or equivalent with Typing Speed of 40 words per minute and Shorthand Speed of 100 Words per minute.
Junior Auditor: 01 Post (UR-Ex-SM)
Pay Scale: The candidates getting selected for the post of Junior Auditor will be eligible to receive remuneration in the scale of Rs.5200-Rs.20200 With Grade Pay Of Rs.2400 in PB-I
Age limit: The candidates must not exceed 30 years as reckoned on the last date for submission of application. However, upper age limit will be relaxed for PH and other categories as per rules.
Academics: As on last date of application, the applicant must have completed a Degree from a recognized University with two years experience in the Accounts Branch of a public or private sector under taking.
Lower Division Clerk: 02 Posts (UR-Ex-SM)
Pay Scale: The candidates getting selected for the post of LDC will be eligible to receive remuneration in the scale of Rs.5200-Rs.20200 With Grade Pay Of Rs.1900 in PB-I
Age limit: The candidates must not exceed 25 years as reckoned on the last date for submission of application. However, upper age limit will be relaxed for PH and other categories as per rules.
Academics: As on last date of application, the applicant must have completed SSLC or equivalent with Type-writing Speed of 30 words per minute.
Hindi Typist: 02 Posts (UR out of which 1 Post is for PH)
Pay Scale: The candidates getting selected for the post of Hindi Typist will be eligible to receive remuneration in the scale of Rs.5200-Rs.20200 With Grade Pay Of Rs.1900 in PB-I
Age limit: The candidates must not exceed 30 years as reckoned on the last date for submission of application. However, upper age limit will be relaxed for PH and other categories as per rules.
Academics: As on last date of application, the applicant must have completed SSLC or equivalent with Hindi Type-writing knowledge. Also Hindi Shorthand knowledge will be preferred.
Training Assistant: 06 Posts (UR-05, SC-01)
Pay Scale: The candidates getting selected for the post of Training Assistant will be eligible to receive remuneration in the scale of Rs.5200-Rs.20200 With Grade Pay Of Rs.1900 in PB-I
Age limit: The candidates must not exceed 30 years as reckoned on the last date for submission of application. However, upper age limit will be relaxed for SC and other categories as per rules.
Academics: As on last date of application, the applicant must have completed SSLC or equivalent. He/ She must have completed Advanced Training Course conducted by the National Coir Training and Design Centre.
Machine Operator: 03 Posts (UR out of which Ex-SM-01)
Pay Scale: The candidates getting selected for the post of Machine Operator will be eligible to receive remuneration in the scale of Rs.5200-Rs.20200 With Grade Pay Of Rs.1900 in PB-I
Age limit: The candidates must not exceed 35 years as reckoned on the last date for submission of application. However, upper age limit will be relaxed for Ex-SM and other categories as per rules.
Academics: As on last date of application, the applicant must have completed ITI certification in Electrician or Fitter trade.
Helper (Dyeing): 01 Post (UR)
Pay Scale: The candidates getting selected for the post of Helper (Dyeing) will be eligible to receive remuneration in the scale of Rs.5200-Rs.20200 With Grade Pay Of Rs.1800 in PB-I
Age limit: The candidates must not exceed 35 years as reckoned on the last date for submission of application. However, upper age limit will be relaxed for SC and other categories as per rules.
Academics: As on last date of application, the applicant must have completed the Training Course of not less than six months duration conducted by the National Coir Training and Design Centre, with three years experience in dyeing.
NOTE:
- Qualifications prescribed above may be relaxed at the discretion of the appointing authority in case of candidates otherwise well qualified. (For all posts, except Sl.No.9 – Helper-Dyeing)
Mode of Appointment:
- All these posts will be appointed on a Contract Basis initially for a period of 3 years from the date of publication of Final Merit List.
Scheme of Selection:
- There will be a Written Examination followed by Oral Test/ Interview for selection of these posts as per the discretion of the Coir Board.
Application Fee:
- For Posts of Scientific Assistant and Assistant (Sl. No.1&2): Rs.100 only
- For all other posts (Sl. No.3-9): Rs.50 only
- For SC/ST/ Women/ Ex-SM/ PH candidates: fees exempted
- The fee is to be remitted in the form of Demand Draft only drawn in favor of “The Secretary, Coir Board, Kochi” on any scheduled commercial bank, and should be payable at Ernakulam.

- The applicants can apply for more than 1 Post with separate Application Forms
- The candidates are advised to keep the form clean from any mistakes, over writings and should include only factual information
- Any wrong or misleading information will result in disqualification of candidature.
- The applications completed in all respect and attached with necessary Demand Draft and certificates of eligibility must be enclosed in an envelope and should be super-scribed as “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF ………”
