Common Entrance Examination for Design or more commonly known as CEED exam is basically an All India level examination. This exam is conducted on behalf of the Ministry of Human Resource Development and conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. Candidates who wish to pursue master degree in Design should qualify in this exam. Though the exam is carried out by IIT, Bombay, yet the candidates can get masters degree at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IISc Bangalore.
The Main Objective of the Exam:
The main objective with which the exam is carried out includes checking out the aptitude in design. Apart from that, there would also be a visual aptitude exam for checking out the ability of perception, logical reasoning, drawing skill, skills in communication and even creativity. By qualifying in the CEED exam, a candidate can get admission into different design programs of master’s and Ph.D.
The Procedure Followed for the Exam:
There is a particular procedure that is followed for carrying out the exam. There are limited numbers of seats from each institute for different courses. These are notified to the candidates in advance along with the details of the written test and interview procedures. Moreover, at the time of admission, reservations are applicable as per the rules of the government of India.
Process of Selection:
Every candidate is supposed to sit for the entrance test in order to get master degree in design. The total duration of the written test is 3 hours and the candidate appearing for CEED exam is generally tested for his skill in design, ability in visual perception, communication skills, logical reasoning and creativity.
Short Listing of the Candidates:
It is on the basis of the marks obtained by the aspiring candidates in the written examination through which the candidates are short listed. Qualifying candidates would be mailed about their results. However, apart from the scores obtained in the CEED exam, the candidates would also have to apply separately in the IISc and IITs for getting admission.
Educational Qualification for the Exam:
The candidate should have Bachelor’s degree in any field of engineering or architecture or design. A candidate with a professional diploma from NID or any equivalent can also appear for the exam. Professional experience along with a 5 year program in GD Arts or a candidate with master’s degree in arts, computer applications or science can also appear for the exam. Therefore, before applying for this course, it is essential that the candidates check out whether they are eligible, or not.
The candidates are also eligible to appear for the exam innumerable times, and there is no specific age limit in the case of this exam like patterns that are followed in the other exams.
Thus, it has been seen that the main purpose of CEED exam is to select the candidates for different post graduate programs in the IITs. Therefore, the popularity of the program has increased to a tremendous extent. As a result, large numbers of candidates aspire to sit for this exam.
