CBSE Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) September 2014 Notification

The rationale for including the TET as a minimum qualification for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher is to bring national standards and benchmark of teacher quality in the recruitment process and to induce teacher education institutions and their students to further improve their performance standards and quality of teaching.

In line with this the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Delhi has been entrusted to conduct a Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) as per the recommendations of NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education).

The CTET notification has been released for the year 2014-15.

The details of the eligibility criteria and the recruitment norms are as under:

Name of the examination:

  • Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET-SEPT-2014)

Important Dates:

  • Starting date for Online Registration: 15-July-2014
  • Last date for Online Registration: 04-Aug-2014
  • Last date for depositing examination fee/ update on the website: 06-Aug-2014
  • Final List of Candidates-Check Status & Particulars: 12-Aug-2014
  • Period for On-line Corrections in Particulars: 12-Aug-2014 till 19-Aug-2014
  • Download Admit Card from CBSE website: 22-Aug-2014
  • Dates for CTET-SEPT-2014 Examination: 21-Sept-2014

Structure Of CTET:

There will be two papers of CTET and the examination will consist of objective type Multiple Choice Question. There will be NO NEGATIVE marking in this exam.

  • Paper I will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for classes I to V.
  • Paper II will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for classes VI to VIII.

Note: A person who intends to be a teacher for both levels (classes I to V and classes VI to VIII) will have to appear in both the papers (Paper I and Paper II).

Minimum Educational Qualification:

  • Level – I – For becoming Primary Teacher (for Classes I-V): Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD) and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), OR, Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks (40% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD) and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002, OR, Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD) and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed), OR, Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD) and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education), OR, Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of two year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
  • Level – II – For becoming Teacher (for Classes VI-VIII): Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), OR, Graduation with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD) and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), OR, Graduation with at least 45% marks (40% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD) and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE, OR, Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD) and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed), OR, Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD) and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A. Ed/B.Sc.Ed., OR, Graduation with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD) and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education).

Age Limit:

  • There is no maximum age limit specified for CTET applicants.

Mode of Selection:

  • The selection will be done through a Written Test, where questions will be Objective Type in nature. A person who scores competently more marks in the CTET-SEPT-2014 examination shall be considered ‘CTET qualified’ or ‘CTET passed’.
  • This selection will be done strictly on a Merit Listing.

Validity:

  • A person who has qualified CTET, his eligibility will remain valid for a period of 7 (Seven) years.
  • A person who has qualified CTET may also appear again for improving his/her score.

Application Fees:

  • For General / BC / OBC Category: Rs. 600 (per paper) and Rs.1000 for both papers
  • For SC / ST Category / Differently-Abled: Rs. 300 (per paper) and Rs.500 for both papers
  • The fee can be remitted by the candidates through a System Generated e-Challan as per the instructions detailed on the advertisement on CBSE Account with Syndicate Bank or Canara Bank in favour of “The Secretary, Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi”.
  • The fee can also be paid by Debit/Credit Card through Online mode.

How to Apply:

  • The candidates may apply through ONLINE MODE ONLY at the websites of CTET-SEPT-2014 at http://ctet.nic.in/ctetapp/Welcome.aspx  
  • The applicants are advised read through the instructions and guidelines as detailed at the same website before submission of online Application form
  • The candidates are advised to fill in the application with caution as there will be no chance of altering the data once the application form is submitted
  • After the completion of first phase of the registration, the candidates need to take-out the system generated fee payment e-challan and deposit requisite fees as stated on the complete advertisement
  • The fees can also be remitted online through Debit/ Credit Card
  • After the payment of fees, the next and final step of the registration can be carried out.
  • The candidates have to upload their recent scanned photograph and scanned signature at appropriate spaces on the Online Application
  • The candidates should save at least 2 hardcopies of the application for future reference
  • The Application Registration Confirmation Page must be dispatched in an Envelope to the following address so as to reach by the last date specified:
