Every year when CAT or Common Admission Test is conducted, various directions are provided to aspiring candidates, starting from the date of sale of vouchers to the result publication. Expanding Option Spectrum For Getting Admissions Through CAT Score
- 21 national important institutes with management courses are offering admissions through the score percentile secured in the CAT exam.
- In the year 2012, the CAT will make candidates eligible to apply separately for about 172 colleges. This figure is exclusive of the 13 Indian Institutes of Management in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore, Kozhikode, Lucknow, Shillong, Ranchi, Kashipur, Raipur, Tiruchirapalli, Udaipur and Rohtak.
- The figure of 172 non-IIM colleges is way more than the 130 colleges which was the list for the year 2011. Apart from 21 institutes of national importance, each of the states have few institutes, where the admissions are being done on the basis of CAT score 2012.
- The new list is inclusive of FMS Delhi, which has scrapped its own exam and gone for admissions through CAT score. In addition, the six Indian Institutes of Technology in India, where management courses are also being taught, have also foregone the JMET entrance, to admit students.
These institutes have therefore made it easier for candidates who have appeared in CAT 2012, so that they can study in an institute in their home state or any of their choice, by simply sending in their applications and without any worries. Although IIMs are the favourite and targeted destinations for most of the students, if they fail to make it through the entrance test, these non-IIM institutes have given ample opportunities for people to fulfil their dream of pursuing MBA from some of the top recognised institutes of the country.
