Career In Rubber Technology

Rubber is a very commercial polymer which has greater use in automobile industries. In engineering they are mostly used for developing tyres, car decoration, rubber stamps, rubber beading, TPE component, butterfly value seats and aircraft tyres etc. The designing of such things took place by moulding rubber material to desired shape. This can be done through the use of natural, latex or synthetic rubber. Those who are interested to pursue career in rubber technology must have knowledge regarding its types, properties and description to convert them into required component. As there are approximately 6000 rubber companies available in the country, requirement of these professionals got increased. This technology also gets emerge in space craft and play important role in design, creation and manufacturing of space components. Task of rubber engineer is to manage the quality, cost, infrastructure based on research and development concepts.

A bachelor’s degree in Rubber technology is offered by various institutes and colleges that include BE and B.Tech courses within it. Those who want to pursue higher education can go through M.Tech/ME or PhD and doctorate programmes. There are various diploma courses that are offered to candidates after 10 board exams. Diploma is mainly consider from 1 to 3 years based on course. To pursue degree through a recognized university, need to qualify entrance exam that may be conducted individually or on national/state level. Well known GATE, AIEEE or IIT JEE entrance exams are the best way to get into B.Tech or M.Tech courses.

Rubber technology is one of the additional specifications recently added into engineering courses. Hence not all the university/colleges provide such course in its center. Some of them are as follows-

  • Madras Institute of Technology
  • Indian Institute of Engineering
  • Rubber Research Institute of India
  • Gujarat Technical University
  • Anna University

By getting through rubber technology the job prospects are open in private and public sector both. Most of the tire companies offer jobs to trained candidates in their organization. Also these professional engineers are generally paid handsome salary. Some of these companies are- LM Fibre Limited, Hi Tech Carbon Limited, St Gobain Industry, Jayashree Polymer Groups, Apollo Tyre Limited and TVS Motors limited etc. Public sector companies that offer jobs in this are Gas Authority of India limited and various petrochemical companies. One can even find jobs in international companies as the scope of such courses are very high in foreign companies.
