Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Recruitment 2013 for Assistants and LDC

With the recent initiative, the BIS has released a notification for induction of Assistants, Stenographers, and Lower Division Clerks. The details of the eligibility criteria and the recruitment norms are as under:

Name of the job Positions & number of vacancies:

  • Assistant – 17 positions (SC-02, ST-08, OBC-04, UR-03)
  • Junior Translator (Hindi) – 2 positions (OBC)
  • Lower Division Clerk – 46 positions (SC-6, ST-4, OBC-11, UR-25)
  • Junior Stenographer – 21 positions (SC-2, ST-2, OBC-6, UR-11)
  • Stenographer – 15 positions (SC-4, ST-5, OBC-1, UR-5)
  • Technical Assistant (Lab) (Chemical) – (33 vacancies)
  • Technical Assistant (Lab) (Mechanical) – (35 vacancies)
  • Technical Assistant (Lab) (Electrical) – (22 vacancies)
  • Technical Assistant (Lab) (Microbiology) – (07 vacancies)
  • Note: There will be appropriate vacancies for the PWD candidates

Important Dates:

  • Date of commencement of Online Registration: 27-April-2013, 08:00 hours
  • Last date for Completion of Step-I of Online Registration: 17-May-2013 23:59 hours
  • Last date for depositing examination fee at SBI: 21-May-2013 Business closing hours of the SBI
  • Last date for Completion of Step-II of Online Registration: 24-May-2013 23:59 hours
  • Date for recognizing age, education and qualification: 31-March-2013

Pay Scale and Remunerations:

  • Assistant – The candidates will receive a Pay Scale of PB-2 in the range of Rs.9300-Rs.34800 with a Grade Pay of Rs.4200 once selected and joined
  • Junior Translator (Hindi) – The candidates will receive a Pay Scale of PB-2 in the range of Rs.9300-Rs.34800 with a Grade Pay of Rs.4200 once selected and joined
  • Lower Division Clerk – The candidates will receive a Pay Scale of PB-1 in the range of Rs.5200-Rs.20200 with a Grade Pay of Rs.1900 once selected and joined
  • Junior Stenographer – The candidates will receive a Pay Scale of PB-1 in the range of Rs.5200-Rs.20200 with a Grade Pay of Rs.2400 once selected and joined
  • Stenographer – The candidates will receive a Pay Scale of PB-2 in the range of Rs.9300-Rs.34800 with a Grade Pay of Rs.4200 once selected and joined
  • Technical Assistant (Lab) – (all disciplines) – The candidates will receive a Pay Scale of PB-2 in the range of Rs.9300-Rs.34800 with a Grade Pay of Rs.4200 once selected and joined
  • Other perks and allowances will be as per norms

Educational Qualification:

  • Assistant – Must have a Bachelors Degree in any discipline
  • Junior Translator (Hindi) – Master’s Degree of a recognized University (or equivalent) in Hindi/English with English/Hindi as a subject at the degree level and Diploma/Certificate course in translation or 2 years’ experience of technical translation from Hindi to English and vice-versa preferably for technical or scientific literature
  • Lower Division Clerk – Graduate with One Year Diploma/Certificate Course in Computer from a reputed Institution. English typing speed of 30 words per minute or Hindi typing speed of 25 words per minute is essential
  • Junior Stenographer – Graduate with One Year Diploma/Certificate Course in Computer from a reputed Institution. Shorthand speed of 80 words per minute in English or in Hindi and knowledge of Computer.
  • Stenographer – Graduate Degree with Shorthand speed of 100 words per minute for 7 minutes and transcribe that in 45 mins (in English) or in 60 mins (in Hindi language) and knowledge of Computer.
  • Technical Assistant (Lab) (Chemical) – BSc with min 60% (50% for SC, ST) OR, 3 years Diploma in Chemical Engg with min 60% (50% for SC, ST)
  • Technical Assistant (Lab) (Mechanical) – 3 years Diploma in Mechanical Engg with min 60% (50% for SC, ST)
  • Technical Assistant (Lab) (Electrical) – 3 years Diploma in Electrical Engg with min 60% (50% for SC, ST)
  • Technical Assistant (Lab) (Microbiology) – BSc with min 60% (50% for SC, ST) OR, 3 years Diploma in Agricultural Engineering / Food Technology with min 60% (50% for SC, ST)

Age Requirements:

The applicants must be under the following age limit:

  • Assistant & Stenographer: Minimum – 18 Years and Maximum – 30 Years
  • All other positions: Minimum – 18 Years and Maximum – 27 years
  • However, there will be relaxation in upper age limit as per rules for scheduled categories, persons with disability and backward classes

Application Fees:

  • For LDC & Jr. Stenographer: Rs.350 + Rs.35 (Bank Charges)
  • For all other posts: Rs.500 + Rs.35 (Bank Charges)
  • For SC, ST, PWD, Women, Ex-Servicemen: Fees exempted
  • The fee can be remitted by the candidates through a System Generated Challan at any branch of State Bank of India only

Mode of Selection:

  • The selection will be done through a Written Test, Interview and Typing and shorthand skill test wherever applicable for the above mentioned posts
  • This selection will be done strictly on a Merit Listing
  • The BIS reserves all rights for selection of candidates as per its discretion

How to Apply:

a)   The candidates may apply through online mode only in English at the website of the BIS at //bis.org.in

b)   The applicants are advised to fill in the application with caution as there will be no chance of altering the data once the application form is submitted

c)   After the completion of Stage-I of the registration, the candidates need to take-out the system generated fee payment challan and deposit requisite fees in any Branch of State Bank of India

d)   After the payment of fees, the Step-II of the registration can be carried out.

e)   The candidates are advised to fill in only the facts with respect to their credentials
